I love this recipe because there's very little cooking and kids can help make them. There are some major decisions to make before starting though-regular rice cereal or chocolate rice cereal, plus the really big decision - creamy or crunchy peanut butter. Marriages have nearly broken up over this one so choose wisely and consult the whole family before proceeding. You can substitute other cereals too, if you have a cupboard full of miscellaneous. ends of cereal boxes like I tend to have.

4 cups crisped chocolate rice cereal
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup light or dark corn syrup
1/2 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter

Steps:

  • Place the cereal in a bowl. In a saucepan combine the brown sugar and corn syrup and bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute then turn off the heat. Stir in the peanut butter then pour it over the cereal and stir immediately to combine and coat. Press into greased mini muffin tins (you'll probably need 3 tins) and let cool to set about 15 minutes. Pop out and store at room temperature.

1 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup smooth peanut butter
6 cups Rice Krispies
2 cups mini chocolate chips, divided

Steps:

  • Line a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with foil. Lightly spray the foil with vegetable spray.
  • Mix sugar and corn syrup in 3 quart sauce pan until mixture boils.
  • Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter; mix well until melted.
  • Add Rice Krispies, stirring until all are coated.
  • Add 1 cup of mini chocolate chips and stir to distribute throughout. (Don't worry if they melt).
  • Press into pan. Sprinkle remaining cup of chocolate chips over the top and press down slightly.
  • Cool. Lift foil out of pan and cut into squares.
  • I have found a pizza cutter works great for cutting them.

14 cups popped popcorn
3 cups Rice Krispies
2 cups salted peanuts
1 lb white chocolate wafers (about 2 cups)
2 tablespoons peanut butter

Steps:

  • Put the popped popcorn, Rice Krispies, and peanuts in a large bowl.
  • Melt the white chocolate wafers.
  • Mix the melted white chocolate together with the peanut butter.
  • Pour the white chocolate mixture into the bowl with the popcorn mixture and stir.
  • Place on two or three baking pans and let the chocolate harden.
  • Break up the larger pieces and it's ready to serve.

Warning! Addictive! I got this recipe out of our local newspaper. They melt in you mouth. These go into my holiday gift tins every year and they are always a big hit. This recipe makes about 150 pieces, so unless you want that many, you may want to halve it.

1 cup peanut butter
3 cups peanuts
3 cups miniature marshmallows

  • Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, being careful not to over cook.
  • Stir in peanut butter, blend well.
  • Mix with other ingredients until well blended.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. (about the size of a small walnut).

These are a bit more grown-up, though I'm sure kids would love them too. White chocolate gives these a boost- you'll never want to make a batch without it ever again. Salted butter and salty nuts also helps this normally bland treat become one of your favorites again! From David Lebovitz. (Cutting large marshmallows in half helps them melt faster, which prevents burning!) Note: Boston Baked Beans candies do not work for this recipe. You may used your favorite roasted, salted nut. I used canned salted peanuts, because they tend to be much more fresh than wrapper-packaged nuts.

3 tablespoons salted butter
3 1/2 ounces white chocolate, finely chopped
1 cup candied peanuts
10 ounces marshmallows, snipped in half or 10 ounces mini marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies

Steps:

  • Spray or lightly-oil a 13 x 9 inch rectangular pan.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add white chocolate and stir until melted.
  • Add the marshmallows and stir constantly over the heat until completely melted. (If they start to scorch on the bottom, remove from heat and continue to stir, placing the pan back on the heat occasionally, stirring until smooth.).
  • Remove from the heat and add the candied peanuts and Rice Krispies until well combined. A rubber spatula or flexible pastry scraper works best.
  • Scrape into the prepared pan and smooth the top, let cool.
  • Serving and Storage: Cut into neat bars or squares with a sharp knife. These are best enjoyed the day they're made, although they can be covered snugly with a sheet of aluminum foil and stored at room temperature for 2 to 3 days longer.

I am not a fan of white chocolate but my youngest son likes it so I'll post this for him. This recipe has peanuts and peanut butter too. Takes 2 hours to firm up. They freeze well. I found it in a community church cookbook that I bought at a book sale. Guessed the number of servings.

1 lb white chocolate chips
5 1/2 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter
1 cup miniature marshmallow
1 cup unsalted dry roasted peanuts
1 1/2 cups Rice Krispies

Steps:

  • In a large Pyrex dish, melt the chocolate in a 200 degree oven for at least 10 minutes.
  • Add the peanut butter while in oven about 2-3 minutes.
  • Take the dish out of the oven and mix.
  • Add marshmallows; mix well.
  • Add peanuts and rice krispies; mix well.
  • Spoon out with teaspoons onto wax paper and let stand about 2 hours.
  • Refrigerate in air tight containers. Or you can freeze them.
