How it works. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that constricts (shrinks) dilated blood vessels within the nose, relieving congestion. It causes vasoconstriction by stimulating primarily alpha-adrenergic receptors.
Upsides. May be used to treat nasal congestion, sinus congestion, and other respiratory conditions. Tablets, chewable tablets, liquid and nasal preparations of pseudoephedrine effectively treat nasal and sinus congestion; however, the sale of cold and flu products containing pseudoephedrine is limited to behind the counter because pseudoephedrine may be used for the illicit production of methamphetamine.
Downsides. If you are between the ages of 18 and 60, take no other medication or have no other medical conditions, side effects you are more likely to experience include
