1 (750 ml) bottle your favorite white wine
1 lemon, juice of
1 orange, juice of
1 lime, juice of
1 lemon, cut into wedges
1 orange, cut into wedges
1 lime, cut into wedges
1 peach, cut into wedges
1 cup sliced strawberry
1/2 cup lemonade
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup peach brandy or 1/4 cup 'berry' brandy
2 cups ginger ale
1 (12 ounce) can diced pineapple chunks in juice

Steps:

  • Pour wine in the pitcher.
  • Squeeze lemon, orange, and lime in the pitcher.
  • Dump in the lemon, orange, and lime wedges, to the wine.
  • Add the sliced peaches, strawberries, lemonade/limeade, sugar ,and brandy.
  • Chill overnight.
  • Add ginger ale and ice just before serving.

1 large orange
1 lemon
2 peaches
1/2 cup sugar (to taste)
4 cups full flavored spanish wine, such as Rioja
ice cube, to serve

Steps:

  • Cut the orange into thin slices, and then cut the slices into wedges, and place in a large pitcher.
  • Cut one long slice of rind from the lemon and add to the oranges.
  • Slice completely around the peaches, cutting down to the pit, and twist the halves in opposite directions until the 2 halves come apart.
  • Remove and discard the pits, slice the peaches and add to the oranges.
  • Add the sugar to the fruit and stir.
  • Pour in the wine and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Taste and add more sugar or a squeeze or 2 of lemon juice to taste.
  • Chill for at least an hour.
  • When ready to serve, use a long handled spoon to stir and press the fruit against the side of the pitcher to extract some of the juice.
  • Put the ice into glasses and pour the chilled Sangria over and add some fruit from the pitcher to each glass.

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 loaf whole wheat ciabatta, split, soft centers removed
4 red leaf lettuce leaves
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
6 radishes, thinly sliced
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
1 small zucchini, thinly sliced
2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
6 ounces part-skim mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
1 cup packed fresh basil leaf

Steps:

  • To make the dressing, combine the lemon juice, oil, salt, and pepper in a small bowl, beating with a whisk until blended. Brush the cut side of the top half of the bread with 1 tbsp of the dressing and set aside.
  • Layer the remaining bread with the lettuce, bell pepper, and radishes; drizzle with 2 teaspoons of the dressing. Layer with the onion and zucchini and drizzle another 2 tsp of dressing. Layer with the tomatoes and cheese and drizzle with the remaining dressing. Add the basil and cover with the reserved bread, cut side down, pressing it firmly.
  • With a serrated knife, cut the loaf crosswise into 6 pieces.

1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 cup club soda, cold

Steps:

  • Combine the wine, orange juice, pineapple, apple, sugar and lime juice in a large pitcher; stir until the sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate at least 2 hours, up to overnight.
  • Just before serving, stir in the club soda. Pour sangria into 6 ice-filled glasses, being sure to include some fruit.
