1 (1 lb) bag romaine lettuce
1 (1 lb) bag baby lettuce or 1 (1 lb) bag spinach
1 cup celery, chopped
1 cup fresh bacon bits
1 (4 ounce) container gorgonzola or 1 (4 ounce) container feta, crumbles
1 pear, sliced
1/2 cup pecans
1 cup sliced strawberry
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon celery salt

Steps:

  • Combine lettuces, celery, bacon, cheese, pear, pecans and strawberries in a large bowl.
  • In a smaller bowl, combine remaining ingredients with a wire whisk.
  • Pour dressing over the salad and toss well.

3 apples or 3 pears, peeled cored & halved
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour, sifted
1/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F Place the apples, round side up, in a well-buttered ovenproof dish.
  • Place the butter, sugar, flour, and cream in a pan, heating gently until blended.
  • Meanwhile, carefully toast the almonds on a cookie sheet in the oven. --Watch these carefully!
  • Pour the melted butter mixture over the apples, sprinkle with the almonds, and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the apples are tender. Serve immediately, with cream. .
