Try this healthified version of a classic favorite using Bisquick Heart Smart® mix and turkey sausage.

1 lb uncooked lean turkey sausage
3 cups shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese (12 oz)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup 1% milk
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves, crushed
1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley or 1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
Barbeque sauce or chili sauce, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease bottom and sides of 15x10x1-inch pan.
  • In large bowl, stir together all ingredients except barbeque sauce, using hands or spoon. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Place in pan.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until brown and thermometer inserted in center of ball reads at least 165°F. Immediately remove from pan. Serve warm with sauce for dipping.

These turkey sausage balls are super yummy and my new favorite snack/breakfast food! Based off the recipe for pork sausage balls. Rated 5 stars based on friend and family reviews! May need to bake in 2 batches, depending on the size of your pan and sausage balls.

1 pound ground turkey sausage
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning
1 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed
2 cups baking mix (such as Bisquick®)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Combine turkey sausage, Cheddar cheese, steak seasoning, and fennel seeds in a bowl. Mix by hand. Add 1/2 of the baking mix and incorporate thoroughly by hand. Add remaining baking mix and repeat.
  • Scoop up 1 tablespoon of mixture, form into a ball, and place on a baking sheet. Repeat with the rest of the mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until browned, 20 to 25 minutes.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.

1 cup marinara sauce, warmed

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Line bottom and sides of 15x10x1-inch pan with foil. Generously spray foil with cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, stir together all ingredients except Parmesan cheese and marinara sauce, using hands or spoon. Shape mixture into (48) 1-inch balls. Place Parmesan cheese in small bowl. Roll balls in Parmesan cheese, pressing to adhere. Place in pan.

The result; Really tasty turkey appetizer balls. They would also be good with a pasta, or so I am told. AND THEY ARE SIMPLE!

1 lb ground turkey
2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • SIMPLE:.
  • Before you begin preparations, preheat your oven to 400°F.
  • First, pour everything into a bowl.
  • Second, mix everything together really well. Use your hands, it's the best way to knead it all together and really spread in the Bisquick.
  • Third, roll the resulting "dough" into balls about 1-inch diameter.
  • Fourth, place the 1-inch balls on a cookie sheet and place into the oven.
  • Last, cook them for 12- 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Serve your turkey balls almost immediately, HOT.
