The Ultimate Cookie Dough Cake Food

1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, toasted (see above)
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup white chocolate chips
1/4 cup sprinkles

Steps:

Beat the butter, sugar, vanilla and salt in a large bowl with a mixer on low speed until combined. Increase the speed to medium high and beat until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Reduce the speed to low, add the toasted flour and beat until combined, about 30 seconds. Add the milk, increase the speed to medium and beat until creamy, about 30 seconds. Stir in the white chocolate chips and sprinkles. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.

Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)

Steps:

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy. Add yolks, one at a time, scraping the bowl after each addition. Add vanilla. With mixer on low, add flour; mix just until combined. Wrap in plastic; chill until firm, about 1 hour.
Citrus or Spice: Whisk 1 tablespoon grated lemon, lime, or orange zest (or a combination), or 1 tablespoon pumpkin-pie spice into the flour before adding it to the butter mixture.

Preheat oven to 350F. Spray three 8-inch cake pans with a non-stick baking spray. Put an 8-inch parchment circle on the bottom and spray again.
Pour chocolate chips into a bowl. Heat heavy cream in a sauce pan over medium-low heat. Heat until hot and steaming. Pour over chocolate chips and let it sit for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Use a rubber spatula to mix until smooth.
Place butter on the counter for 30 minutes so it can get slightly cold. It should be cold to the touch, but you can see a finger indent if you press on it. Sift the powdered sugar.
