1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 cups Corn Chex
3 cups Rice Chex
3 cups Wheat Chex
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup pretzel
1 cup bite-size garlic bagel chips or 1 cup regular-size bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 250 degrees.
  • Melt butter in large roasting pan in oven. Stir in seasonings. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until evenly coated.
  • Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

This recipe came off the back of a cereal box, probably around 1956. It is way different than many of the recipes you find on line today.

1/2 c margarine
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 1/4 tsp seasoning salt
1/4 tsp garlic salt
2 c wheat chex cereal
2 c corn chex cereal
2 c rice chex cereal
1 1/2 c peanuts
1 1/2 c pretzel sticks, broken

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 275°. Melt butter in a 9x13-inch cake pan.
  • 2. Stir in worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, and garlic salt.
  • 3. Stir cereal, peanuts, and pretzel pieces into the margarine mixture, stirring to coat well.
  • 4. Bake for 40 minutes, stirring well every 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool about 30 minutes, stirring once. Store in airtight container.

3 cups crisp wheat cereal, such as Wheat Chex
3 cups crisp rice cereal, such as Rice Chex
2 cups pretzel sticks
2 cups mixed nuts
1 to 1 1/2 sticks (8 to 12 tablespoons) salted butter
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon seasoned salt, such as Lawry's
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
6 to 12 dashes hot sauce, such as Tabasco
3 to 5 cloves garlic, mashed

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
  • Dump the corn, wheat and rice cereal into a large mixing bowl. Add the pretzel sticks and nuts.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, add the butter, Worcestershire, seasoned salt, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, hot sauce and garlic and microwave until the butter is melted. Stir together and toss into the cereal mixture, stirring as you go.
  • Transfer the mixture to 1 or 2 baking sheets and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Let cool and store in an airtight container.
  • Grab a handful every 40 minutes. Eat. Spoil your appetite.

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/4 teaspoons seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
3 cups Wheat Chex square cereal
2 cups Rice Chex square cereal
1 1/2 cups nuts (peanuts, pecans, or cashews)
1 1/2 cups small pretzel rods

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 275 F.
  • Melt the margarine or butter in a shallow pan over low heat. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, and garlic salt.
  • Combine the Wheat Chex, Rice Chex, nuts, and pretzel rods in a large bowl and drizzle with half of the butter mixture. Carefully mix with a wooden spoon to avoid breaking the pretzels and cereal squares. Repeat with the remaining butter mixture, evenly coating all the pieces.
  • Place the mix in a shallow baking pan with sides. Bake for 25 to 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to evenly toast the mixture.
