These Spicy and Sweet Baked Chipotle Chicken Wings are perfect for entertaining a crowd! They're sweet. They're spicy. They're finger-licking good!

4 lb (1.8 kg) chicken wings, (thawed)
2 teaspoons cumin
1 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons cilantro leaves to garnish ((optional))
Lime wedges to serve ((optional))
7.5 oz (221 ml) Coca Cola zero ((one small can))
4 chipotle peppers in abodo sauce, (puréed (see notes))
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 1 teaspoon cold water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400º F (200º C). Line a baking sheet with foil. Place a wired rack on top and spray it with oil.
  • Pat dry the chicken wings with a paper towel.
  • Place cumin, salt, paprika, black pepper, and baking powder in a gallon-sized bag. Shake the bag to combine. Add chicken and shake again to coat it evenly with the seasoning.
  • Place seasoned chicken over the wired rack and spray with oil.
  • Bake for 35 -40 minutes, turning once, or until cooked through and golden brown and crispy.
  • In the meantime, make the chipotle sauce: Place a medium saucepan, over medium heat, add the Coca-Cola, chipotle, onion, garlic, brown sugar, and soy sauce; mix to combine. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer until reduced by half, about 15 minutes. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened, about 2 minutes. Set aside.
  • When the chicken is cooked. Baste both sides of the chicken generously with the wing sauce and bake for 10 -15 minutes.
  • Garnish with cilantro, if using, and lime wedges. Serve hot.

One 7-ounce can chipotles in adobo
1 white onion, chopped
1/2 small jalapeno, seeded and chopped, or more to taste
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro, plus more whole leaves, for garnish
Juice of 4 limes plus 1 lime, cut into wedges, for serving
Kosher salt
2 to 3 cups mayonnaise
2 chickens, cut into pieces or 8 chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine the chipotles in adobo sauce, white onion, jalapeno, cilantro and lime juice. Add a pinch of salt and pulse until combined. Remove to a large non-reactive bowl. Fold in 2 cups of mayonnaise. Taste and adjust seasonings. If it is too hot, add more mayonnaise. Reserve about 1/2 cup marinade for serving.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the remaining marinade, cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours and up to overnight, turning occasionally.
  • Preheat half of a grill to medium-high heat.
  • Remove the chicken from the refrigerator and place the chicken, bone-side down, in the center of the cooking grate. You do not need to turn the chicken pieces as they cook. Grill, with the grill cover down, until the breast meat near the bone registers 165 degrees F and the thigh meat registers 180 degrees F, about 45 minutes. If you don't have a meat thermometer, cook until no longer pink and the juices run clear.
  • Remove the chicken from the grill using tongs and a spatula to preserve the crust on top. Let sit 5 to 10 minutes before garnishing with whole cilantro leaves and serving with the reserved marinade and lime wedges alongside.

These crispy crockpot chicken wings are so good and so easy. The slow cook helps render off excess fat and then you can give them a quick crisp in the oven.

2 pounds of free-range chicken wings
2 tsp of chicken seasoning
6 tbsp Nashville Heat Sweet Smoked Chipotle Hot Sauce
2 tbsp butter, melted

Steps:

  • Take your wings and cut them up into the 3 pieces- the drumette, the flat, and the tip. We don't use the tips in this recipe.
  • Toss wing pieces with the chicken seasonings and dump them in the slow cooker and set it for 4 hours on the lowest setting.
  • Before you remove your wings from the crock pot, mix up your simple wing hot sauce by mixing together the melted butter and hot sauce.
  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Line a baking pan with aluminum foil to avoid a mess.
  • Use tongs to lay the crock pot wings out onto the baking sheet with space between each one.
  • Then use a spoon to cover each wing in wing sauce.
  • Place baking pan in oven about 10 inches down from the heat source and bake for 5 minutes.
  • Pull out the baking pan and use tongs to flip over each wing and then use a spoon to cover the second side in sauce.
  • Place baking pan back in oven about 10 inches down from the heat source and bake for another 5 minutes.
  • Now your crock pot chicken wings will be nice and crisped up and totally flavorful and delicious and ready to serve!

1 -2 lb chicken breast
10 ounces mushrooms
1/2 chopped onion
3 minced garlic cloves
1 small sweet potato (peeled and chopped in chunks)
2 green onions, chopped
1 diced red bell pepper
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup sour cream (to add later)
brown sugar (optional ( to cut the spiciness if need be)

Steps:

  • Add the chicken to the crock pot.
  • Prepare the vegetables and add on top of the chicken.
  • Put in the broth, and add the spices.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the chicken is done and is beginning to shred.
  • Before serving, stir in the sour cream. If needed, heat on high for 30 minutes to bring back to desired serving temperature.
  • Add brown sugar in small increments if you want to cut the heat.
  • Serve over pasta or brown rice.

I was looking for a baked hot wing recipe.....using chipotle.....there were none. Here it is. Sugar free too. Prep time does NOT include marination time.

24 -36 chicken wings
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 teaspoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 teaspoons Sweet'N Low brown sugar substitute
1 (7 ounce) can chipotle chiles in adobo

Steps:

  • Remove the tips from the wings a reserve for another use like stock.
  • Separate the wings at the joints.
  • Wash wings and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Place wings in container with a lid or sealable plastic bag.
  • Remove the peppers from the adobo and chop fine.
  • Mix chopped peppers with the adobo and other ingredients.
  • Pour over wings, stir around till they are coated and allow to marinate for 1 to 24 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place wings on foil lined cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 30 to 45 minutes till wings are done.
