My very favorite trick with sweet tea is to use a good quality Stevia extract, and to make several batches at once...so I've got a fridge stocked with tea concentrate!

Number Of Ingredients 3

1-2 cups of water per 'batch' of concentrate you're making
2 family sized teabags per batch
2 of the enclosed measuring scoops ("doonks") of THM Stevia,or1/8th t. of your favorite stevia extract per batch

Steps:

  • Bring water to boil
  • Remove from heat, and add tea bags.
  • Allow to steep for 5 minutes or more, to desired strength.
  • Remove tea bags with a fork.
  • Add sweetener.
  • Divide concentrate into equal amounts in storage jars, and label.
  • With remaining amount of concentrate in pitcher, fill with water.

This sugar-free sweet tea is perfect for the summer, or anytime you need a low-carb refreshing drink. This easy keto tea uses an erythritol/stevia-based sweetener to make sweet tea.

16 Cups Water, (divided)
4 family-sized Tea Bags
3 Tablespoons Super Sweet

Steps:

  • Place 8 cups of water in a large saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and add the tea bags. Cover and allow the tea to steep for 5 to 6 minutes. (Steep longer for stronger tea.)
  • Meanwhile, add an additional 8 cups of water to a gallon-sized pitcher.
  • Remove tea bags from saucepot, gently squeezing to remove the excess tea. Discard the tea bags.
  • To the saucepan, add the sweetener and stir until completely blended.
  • Pour the tea into the gallon-sized pitcher with the water. Stir to combine.
  • Cover the pitcher and refrigerate. Best if refrigerated overnight.

This is how my Granny made sweet tea and it is some kind of sweet. Know that and beware. Pa-Paw used to down 2-3 glasses after working in the garden all day. Back off the sugar if you can't handle it. This one is for true southerners only ;)

6 regular tea bags
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups boiling water
1 1/2-2 cups sugar
6 cups cold water

Steps:

  • In a large glass measuring cup, place the tea bags and add the baking soda.
  • Pour the boiling water over the tea bags.
  • Cover and steep for 15 minutes.
  • Take out the tea bags and do not squeeze them.
  • Pour the tea mixture into a 2-quart pitcher; add the sugar.
  • Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add in the cold water.
  • Let cool; chill in the refrigerator and serve over ice.

Low Sugar (Or Sugar Free) Southern Sweet Tea image

Less sugar and no artificial sweeteners- but still that nice authentic southern sweet tea. I grew up in Alabama and had sweet tea in my bottles as a baby. This is not as sweet as the tea that I grew up on with 2 cups of sugar in a half gallon, but it's still plenty sweet for me even with just 1/4 cup sugar. I used to make a sugar free version replacing the sugar with Splenda. Over time I developed an allergy to Splenda, so I started using sugar. Using 2 sweeteners helps avoid an after-taste.

3 family-size tea bags
8 cups water
2 (1 g) packets stevia
1/4-1/2 cup sugar

Steps:

  • Boil 4 cups hot water. Place tea bags in heat-proof glass container. Pour boiling water over tea bags and steep 15-20 minutes. Remove tea bags. Stir in sugar until completely disolved.
  • Add 4 cups ice water to tea, then stir in Stevia packets. Refrigerate overnight. (The stevia after-taste is too strong on the first day) Serve over ice, and use within 4 days (the tea will start to get a bitter taste after a few days).
  • NOTE: This makes a strong tea. I like to pour mine over a glass of ice and let it sit for a while before I drink it, so I make it strong enough that it taste right when watered down by melted ice.
