CHERRY LIMEADE SWEET TEA

Sweet tea and cherry limeade are two of my favorite summer libations, so I decided to combine them-the results are wonderful. -Renee Page, Rochelle, Illinois

Yield 14 servings (about 2-1/2 quarts).

Number Of Ingredients 7

Ingredients

8 cups water
6 tea bags
1/4 cup sugar
1 can (12 ounces) frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
1 cup chilled cherry juice blend
Ice cubes
Lime wedges and pitted dark sweet cherries

Steps:

In a Dutch oven, bring water to a boil; remove from heat. Add tea bags; steep, covered, 10 minutes. Discard tea bags. Stir in sugar until dissolved; cool slightly. Transfer to a pitcher; cool completely., Add limeade concentrate and cherry juice to tea. Serve over ice with lime wedges and cherries.

KATIE'S TWISTED TEA

Ingredients

4 cups lemonade
6 sprigs fresh mint, plus fresh mint leaves, for the ice cube trays
8 ounces vodka
6 cups Sweet Tea, recipe follows
6 black tea bags, such as orange pekoe
1/2 cup sugar

Steps:

Pour the lemonade into ice cube trays. Add 1 mint leaf to each cube. Freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Divide the lemonade ice cubes among 6 tall glasses. Pour the vodka over the ice cubes and top with Sweet Tea. Finish with a straw and a mint sprig.
In a medium pot over high heat, bring 2 cups water to a boil. Take off the heat and add the tea bags. Steep the tea for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. This will be the concentrated base of your tea.
Add the tea mixture to a pitcher filled with ice. Top off with 4 cups of water. Serve immediately or refrigerate, covered, for up to a week.

1/2-ounce sweet tea flavored vodka (recommend: FireFly)
1/2-ounce cherry schnapps liqueur
Dash cherry juice
Splash lemonade
Ice
Michigan cherries, for garnish

Steps:

Pour all the ingredients, except the cherries, into a shaker filled with ice. Shake a couple of times and pour into a serving glass. Garnish with 2 Michigan cherries on toothpick.
