SWEET AND SPICY PEANUT SOUP
This soup with African origins is a keeper. It's delicious and very rich in vegetables and nutrients! It comes from Ellie Krieger's The Food You Crave, with small modifications. I love it and it makes great leftovers. With the vegetable stock (instead of chicken), this is a vegan friendly soup. I would like to try a kid-friendly version by decreasing the cayenne pepper and ginger. I would also like to try a less processed version with fresh tomatoes instead of canned, and roasted peanuts, and a little brown sugar instead of peanut butter.

Steps:
- Saute onion, peppers, and carrots in canola oil, stirring about every minute until veggies soften and begin to brown (about 5 minutes).
- Add cayenne, black pepper, garlic, and ginger and continue to cook 1 minute.
- Add sweet potato, broth, and tomatoes.
- Bring to boil, then lower heat and simmer 20 minutes.
- Puree soup with an immersion blender ( I leave mine a little chunky). If you don't have an immersion blender, it can be pureed in a regular blender in batches.
- Add peanut butter and honey and stir over low heat until the peanut butter is melted and well mixed.
- Serve warm.
- Garnish with green onion and peanuts (optional).
- Enjoy!

SWEET AND SPICY MIXED NUTS
These are the best of all the recipes I have tried. A couple tips after the first review that I didn't bother to write. Don't pour the nuts onto a cookie sheet. Use a slotted spoon and leave the extra "sauce" in the pan. Use the times suggested, otherwise you will get burnt nuts, not tasty. You may reduce the amount of butter slightly depending on the nuts you use. I use whatever nuts I have on hand. This is a recipe that is sweet to the tongue, then lets out a long slow heat. A beautiful balance. Hope you will try and enjoy.

HOT AND SPICY PEANUTS
Wow! These peanuts are addicting! They are easy to make and would be great for a party. Make sure to drain very well after cooking or they will be greasy. The recipe comes from the Betty Crocker Christmas cookbook.

SWEET AND SPICY NUTS
This recipe was sent to me by my #2 son. He says they are so good that it would be a shame not to share them with my Zaar buddies! The recipe only calls for walnuts, pecans and almonds, but if you are feeling a little frisky, add in some cashews and peanuts, too!! Great for serving at a picnic, giving as gifts, or just an anytime - in front of the TV type snack! Hope you enjoy!!
