1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup butter, chilled and diced
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¾ teaspoon baking soda
¾ cup butter, room temperature
1 ½ cups white sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
16 ounces plain low-fat yogurt
2 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and finely diced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a Bundt cake pan.
  • To make streusel: In a medium bowl, mix brown sugar, 3/4 cup flour, and cinnamon. Cut in the butter with a fork until crumbly. Stir in walnuts.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together 3 1/4 cups flour, baking powder, and baking soda. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Then stir in the vanilla and yogurt. Gently stir in the flour mixture just until blended.
  • Pour 3 cups of the batter into the Bundt pan, sprinkle with 1/4 of the streusel, and layer with apples. Sprinkle with 1/2 the remaining streusel. Pour in the remaining batter, and top with the remaining 1/4 streusel. Lightly pat the top layer of streusel so it sticks to the cake batter.
  • Bake 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack 15 minutes. Place cookie sheet over pan and carefully invert both. Remove Bundt pan, and let the cake cool completely.

½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 tablespoons cold butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 apple - peeled, cored, and chopped
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
⅓ cup butter, softened
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch pan.
  • Mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon for topping in a bowl. Cut in cold butter. Stir in walnuts and apple.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt for cake in a bowl. Beat white sugar and butter together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until creamy. Add dry ingredients. Mix in milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Spread into the prepared pan and sprinkle streusel topping over top. Swirl a knife through both mixtures.

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 large eggs
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 large apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter, chilled
1 cup powdered sugar
4 teaspoons water (or more)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a small bowl combine flour and baking powder.
  • Beat eggs, milk and vanilla in another small bowl.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine sugar and butter; beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy.
  • Alternately add flour mixture and egg mixture, beating well after each addition; end with flour mixture.
  • Spread into prepared cake pan.
  • Arrange apples on top, gently pressing into batter.
  • Bake for 20 minutes.
  • While the cake bakes, make the streusel topping by combining flour, powdered sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Cut in remaining 2 tablespoons butter until crumbly.
  • To make the glaze: mix together powdered sugar and enough water to form a smooth consistency that is just thin enough to drizzle; set aside.
  • When the cake is ready, sprinkle top with streusel topping.
  • Bake for 15 to 18 more minutes, or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan on wire rack.
  • Drizzle with powdered sugar glaze.

  • Butter the cake pan. Set aside.
  • Make the topping: In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Sprinkle the 3 tablespoons of butter cubes over the mixture and use your fingertips to work it in to form a crumbly topping. Chill in the refrigerator while you prepare the cake.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Make the cake: In a small pan, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to turn a medium nut brown, 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool slightly. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices. In a medium bowl, beat the egg and egg yolk to blend. Whisk in the butter and buttermilk, then pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture and stir just to combine. 3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 cups low fat cottage cheese (whipped in blender until smooth)
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups apples, peeled and chopped

Steps:

  • Mix dry ingredients for cake batter and set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar in mixer, then add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition Add the vanilla& cottage cheese alternately with flour mixture; mix well.
  • Combine the streusel ingredients EXCEPT THE APPLES.
  • Set aside 1/2 cup of streusel.
  • Add apples to remainder.
  • In greased bunt pan spread 1/3 of batter, then 1/2 of apple mix, 1/3 of batter, remainder of apple mix, remainder of batter.
  • Top with 1/2 cup streusel that was set aside.
  • Bake at 375°F for 1 hour or until done.
  • Cool 10 minutes and take from pan.
  • Dust with powdered sugar when completely cool.

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Microwave apples in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min. or until crisp-tender; drain. Cool. Meanwhile, mix 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar and cinnamon in medium bowl. Cut in 1/4 cup cold butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in nuts.
