PSA STAINLESS V. NITRIDE CARBON .308 BARRELS | THE HIGH ROAD
Feb 11, 2009 For those with experience, is there any advantage to one or the other? Both show up on PSA ‘standard’ .308 uppers complete w/bcg for $299. I live in Deep South so prefer stainless. Are they generally as accurate as, e.g., GI garand rifles? Is the bcg they include ok? Combined with my $149...

RUST ON STAINLESS STEEL GUN? | THE HIGH ROAD
Dec 18, 2006 Stainless steel most definately can rust, especially the high carbon stainless used in guns and high quality knife blades. I've had all of them rust at one time or another. The best way to remove rust on stainless is the same way you'd remove it on blued steel. Extra fine steel wool (0000) and gun oil.

WINCHESTER 1200 POLICE STAINLESS- INFO? | THE HIGH ROAD
Nov 8, 2009 Winchester produced the Model 1200 from 1964 to 1981. Winchester had problems with the stainless steel guns, and found that the bores rusted faster and worse than if they were plated. So they stopped production of the Model 1200 Stainless Police and the Model 1300 Stainless Marine Defender, and replaced them with the plated version Model 1300.

BEST WAY TO CLEAN POWDER RESIDUE OFF STAINLESS …
Apr 23, 2021 For minor carbon rings, nylon brush and your favorite gun cleaner will get it off. For something more extensive, darker, and burnt on? I like Flitz polish and the softest cloth you can find.

DOES A STAINLESS GUN HAVE A "FINISH"? | THE HIGH ROAD
Jun 29, 2012 The grade of stainless steel used for firearms is not a true stainless, just rust resistant. None the less I have never had a stainless gun rust but I wax the exterior just like I do my blued guns. Only the 3 class stainless steels are truely stainless and they are difficult to machine plus work harden quickly under stress.

WHY NOT MORE STAINLESS STEEL? | THE HIGH ROAD
Sep 3, 2020 A lot of the repeaters have aluminum receivers, but why are there "marinecoat" barrels rather than stainless steel? Why not a stainless 870 Express or Wingmaster? Most of the guns these days have vent ribs unless they're tactical or slug guns with peep sights, so I don't see the light colored matte-finish barrel causing too much glare.

BERETTA’S USAGE OF STAINLESS STEEL(S) - THE HIGH ROAD
Apr 22, 2025 I'm pretty sure the alloy frame and the carbon steel slide were hard chromed with a nickel alloy. So was the Beretta 92 Steel I, all made of carbon steel with a hard chrome nickel alloy as well to cover parts. I think the first Beretta with stainless steel slide was the Beretta 92FS Inox or the 3032 Tomcat Inox, both of the first years of 2000.

WHERE HAVE STAINLESS STEEL GUNS GONE? | THE HIGH ROAD
Aug 24, 2018 I like stainless steel guns. I own quite a few. It used to be that many manufacturers offered handguns and rifles and a few shotguns. Now most of them seem to have disappeared except for 1911s, S&W revolvers and 10-22s and some high end hunting rifles. Why? What do you think? Would you be more...

KIMBER STAINLESS TARGET 2K11 | THE HIGH ROAD
Dec 27, 2024 The stainless and black DLC models don’t suffer in the looks department, IMO. Nevertheless, the sample I handled was very well made and honestly I could find little to recommend against it. I’ve seen some griping online about the blending of the thumb safety to the frame but I didn’t notice that in the one I handled.
