CRISPY, SPICY FIRECRACKER RECIPE

Spicy Firecracker crackers, made with Saltine crackers, are a fiery, crispy party appetizer. Dip the hot, spicy crackers in Ranch dressing or crumble them on top of your favorite chili recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 ½ cups canola oil ((do not substitute vegetable oil))
2 Tablespoons crushed red pepper ((or more for spicier crackers))
1 packet ranch dressing mix
1 Tablespoon chili powder ((or more for spicier crackers))
16 ounces Saltine crackers

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the oil and spices, whisking until blended.
  • Divide crackers into 2 gallon-size zippered bags.
  • Pour half of the oil mixture into one bag and half into the second bag. Seal and gently rotate bag to coat crackers.
  • Continue rotating the bags every 5 minutes for an hour.
  • Let sit overnight, then store crackers in an airtight container

I had these at a retirement party and had never seen saltines fixed this way. They are cheap, easy and yummy.

1 1/3 cups canola oil
4 tablespoons red pepper flakes
1 (1 ounce) package dry ranch dressing mix
3 tablespoons dill
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 lb saltine crackers

Steps:

  • Divide crackers into gallon baggies. Combine the rest of the ingredients in a bowl and whisk together. Divide mixture and pour into each baggie. Close baggie and agitate the crackers. Turn crackers in bag every 15 minute for about an hour.
