We have enjoyed these summer drinks for a long time. They are tasty and very easy to make, something for everyone. Easy to add vodka to these drinks.

1 quart orange juice, freshly squeezed, chilled
2 cups apple juice, chilled
1 (355 ml) can carbonated lemon-lime beverage, chilled
8 slices oranges, thinly sliced
16 ice cubes
1 cup strawberry, frozen
3 cups orange juice, fresh squeezed, chilled
2 cups sparkling water, chilled
8 large strawberries, with leaves on
8 slices oranges, thinly sliced
16 ice cubes
2 (6 ounce) cans hawaiian punch frozen tropical punch concentrate
1 cup water, ice cold
1 cup pineapple juice, chilled
1 cup orange juice, fresh squeezed, chilled
1 cup lemon juice, fresh squeezed, chilled
2 (750 ml) bottles sparkling wine, asti, chilled
12 slices oranges, thinly sliced
12 slices lemons, thinly sliced
1/2 cup strawberry, whole, small, no leaves
30 ice cubes

Steps:

  • Orangead.
  • In a large chilled pitcher, combine the orange and apple juice then add the soda.
  • Fill glasses with ice and garnish with orange slices.
  • Sunrise Cooler.
  • Puree frozen strawberries in the blender.
  • Mix the pureed strawberries with the orange juice and pour into bowl.
  • Freeze until just firm.
  • (slushy).
  • When ready to serve add sparkling water to the slightly frozen strawberry and orange juice mixture and pour over the ice cubes.
  • Garnish glasses with orange slices and whole strawberries.
  • Sparkling Wine Punch.
  • In a chilled punch bowl combine the punch, water, and pineapple, orange and lemon juices.
  • Blend Well.
  • Gently stir in the wine.
  • Add ice, strawberries and fruit slices.
  • Enjoy.

Yield Makes 10 to 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 cup sugar
2 lemons
1 bottle (750 ml.) champagne or other sparkling white wine, refrigerated

Steps:

  • Combine the sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. Refrigerate if possible.
  • Using the finest grater you have, lightly scrape the skin of 1 lemon, removing only the top surface of the peel. Squeeze the juice and remove the seeds from both lemons.
  • Open the champagne or sparkling wine, and pour it into a 9 x 12 x 2-inch pan, or a container of equivalent volume. Mix in sugar water, lemon juice, and grated zest. Place mixture into the freezer. Check after 30 minutes. Using a wooden spoon, break up any ice formed on the sides and stir into the rest of the liquid. Continue to freeze and repeat this procedure every hour for at least 3 hours. The mixture will begin to take on a slushy consistency and eventually form into a sorbet or granizado of small ice crystals. Before serving, fluff the granizado by "chopping" up any clumps with the spoon or gently whisking the frozen mixture. Spoon into small glasses or cups and serve.
  • Author Marina Chang's tips:
  • Although this can be made in an ice-cream maker, one is not needed to make this wine-based ice. The alcohol in the sparkling wine acts as an antifreeze that prevents the liquid from freezing solid. A few stirs every hour is sufficient to obtain the fine ice crystal consistency.
  • If you prefer a more lemony flavor, add grated zest from both lemons, instead of one.
