SOUR CREAM SPICE COOKIES
The American Woman's Cook Book 1946 I added about a cup of raisins to half of the batter. There are delish!!! They baked up nice and soft.

Steps:
- 1. Measure the flour after you have sifted it. Then, sift flour, soda, spices and salt together.
- 2. Cream shortening with sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
- 3. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour cream in small amounts. End with flour. Mix well.
- 4. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheets and bake in moderate oven (350 F) 12 minutes.

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease baking sheets.
- Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg together into a bowl.
- Beat 1 1/2 cups sugar and butter together in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition; blend in sour cream and lemon extract. Gradually stir flour mixture into creamed butter mixture until dough is combined.
- Drop dough by rounded tablespoons, about 3 inches apart, onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown around the edges, about 4 minutes. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar over cookies; top with walnuts and raisins. Continue baking until bottoms of cookies begin to brown, 3 to 4 minutes more. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two cookie sheets.
- In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
- Beat in sour cream, lemon extract, and vanilla.
- Reduce speed to low; beat in flour mixture just until blended.
- Drop dough by rounded teaspoons, 1 inch apart, on prepared cookie sheets.
- Bake until set and golden around edges, 10-12 minutes.
- Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; with wide spatula, transfer cookie to wire racks to cool completely.

- In a large mixing bowl, use a hand-held mixer to cream together the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs, sour cream, and extract. Beat well to incorporate.
- Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cream of tartar, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Beat until just incorporated.
- Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate dough for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
- In a small, shallow bowl, whisk together the topping ingredients and set aside.
- Portion cookie dough into tablespoons. Roll into balls and roll into the topping mixture. Set on prepared baking sheet, leaving 2 inches of space between each cookie.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 3 minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack to finish cooling.

- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
