This is a refreshing rice side with a hint of orange using this simple Recipe #195964 using orange. This is a recipe for a standard Rice Cooker - please adjust the water if cooking in a pan the conventional way. Great with black beans, any Asian dishes, Orange flavored chicken, ribs, fish .....

2 cups rice, rinsed
2 cups water, to the rice cooker level
1 pinch powdered saffron (optional)
1 onion, diced
salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons butter (using Lemon Compound Butter)

Steps:

  • Place 2 cups of rice into your rice cooker - using the cup provided.
  • Fill up with water to the 2 cup level in the rice cooker.
  • Add the saffron, onion, salt, pepper & butter to the rice & water.
  • Stir gently mixing it all together.
  • Turn the rice cooker on to the Cook cycle.
  • (This can be kept warm when the cooking cycle has finished for up to 2 hours.).
  • When ready to serve, fluff and serve.

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups instant rice
1 cup frozen peas and carrot
bring water, tomato sauce, Seasoning Mix and oil to boil in 3-quart saucepan, stirring occasionally

Steps:

  • Bring water, tomato sauce, Seasoning Mix and oil to boil in 3-quart saucepan, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in instant rice and vegetables. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 minutes until rice is tender.
  • Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 tablespoon butter
1 small onion (1 cup)
1 cup arborio rice
3 cups hot water or 3 cups hot chicken broth, adding more if needed
1 cup orange juice
1/2 teaspoon orange zest
1 teaspoon saffron thread, optional will enhance a pretty color and fragrance
1 chipotle chile in adobo (use sauce taste)
3 ounces asiago cheese, 1/2 cup grated
1 bunch fresh parsley, 1/4 cup chopped

Steps:

  • Rice Cooker:.
  • Saute onions in butter in an open rice cooker, then add Arborio rice and liquids, zest, saffron, and chipotle pepper and sauce. Cook for about 25 minutes in an on/off cooker or use the "slow" or "porridge" cycle if your machine has one which should be 1 hour.
  • Mix in grated cheese and herbs at the end. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Stove Top:.
  • Heat butter in a heavy non stick pot. Add onions and cook till translucent. Add rice and stir till coated. Add zest, saffron, and chipotle pepper and sauce. Add 1 cup of liquid at a time stirring on medium heat until absorbed. Continue cooking and adding liquid till desired tenderness is achieved. Stir in cheese and parsley season to taste with salt and pepper.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup long-grain white rice
2 cups chicken stock
1 orange, zested and juiced
1 green onion, chopped

Steps:

  • Place a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the olive oil and rice, and cook until the rice smells toasty, about 3 minutes. Add the chicken stock and half of the orange zest and juice. Bring to a boil, stir once more, then cover and reduce the heat to low. Simmer until tender and the liquid has been absorbed, 18 to 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and let stand, still covered, for 5 minutes. Stir the remaining orange zest and juice into the rice, and garnish with the green onions.

¼ cup cream cheese, room temperature
½ cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon, divided
2 large eggs
1 orange, washed
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup pancake mix
¼ cup butter, melted, plus more for greasing pan

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese and 100 g (½ cup) of the sugar. Add the eggs and whisk until combined.
  • Zest one half of the orange over the batter. Add the lemon juice and whisk to combine.
  • Add the pancake mix and melted butter, and whisk until the batter is smooth.
  • Brush the bowl of the rice cooker with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of sugar on the inside of the bowl so that it is well coated.
  • Slice the orange into 7 thin slices and lay on the inside of the bowl.
  • Pour the batter over the oranges, and cook for 40 minutes.
  • Remove the bowl of the rice cooker and place a plate over the top. Carefully flip the bowl upside-down so that the cake slides onto on the plate with the orange slices on top.
  • Enjoy!
