SLOW COOKER TUNA MORNAY

Slow Cooker Tuna Mornay image

Easy and delicious :)

Provided by Lee Thayer @LeeNST

Categories     Casseroles

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 can(s) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 1/4 cup(s) whipping cream or evaporated milk
3 can(s) tuna in brine
2 cup(s) penne pasta
1 cup(s) frozen peas
1 cup(s) frozen corn
3 - shallots, chopped
1/3 cup(s) water
1 cup(s) cheddar cheese, shredded
- salt and pepper, as desired

Steps:

  • Open each can of tuna and dump brine and all into the slow cooker pot. Break up the tuna with a fork.
  • Add all the ingredients except the cheese, to your slow cooker, season with a pinch of black pepper as desired. I used frozen mixed veggies in place of the corn and peas.
  • Give everything a good stir. Cover and cook on Low setting for 4 to 5 hours. Stir the pot (literally, not figuratively) once an hour. Check if the pasta is tender at the 4 hour mark, if tender, stir in the cheese. If not tender, check again at 4 1/2 hours or the 5 hour mark.
  • Cook for another 15-30 minutes on Low setting, stir again, taste, season with salt and pepper as desired.
  • Spoon into bowls, serve.

EASY SLOW COOKER TUNA CASSEROLE

Easy Slow Cooker Tuna Casserole image

I couldn't find many slow cooker pasta recipes here that would cook the pasta along with everything else in the cooker. So this is a basic recipe that I made up, along the lines of my mama's stovetop tuna casserole, that can be tweaked by using different type of soup, vegetables, and pasta types as well as adding more or different cheeses, herbs, or spices. Super easy and even my 2-year-old ate it! It makes a very soft pasta, not al dente.

1 cup shredded mild Cheddar cheese
1 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
8 ounces uncooked macaroni pasta
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon plain flour
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon paprika
lemon juice (1 squeeze)
200 g canned tuna

Steps:

  • Place the butter in a preheated saucepan and melt the butter down (on low heat).

CLASSIC TUNA MORNAY

Classic Tuna Mornay image

I wanted to make this recipe for old time sake. My mum used to make it often and for some reason I craved it last night for dinner. I found this in the Woman's Weekly, and served it with a side salad. I had never made it for the family before, but I think it may be on our menu a little more often now. I actaully used leftovers the next day for a picnic, I liked it cold and might add a few vegies next time for a tuna slice for a picnic. The pasta I used was Penne the original recipe suggests Tortiglioni. Tuna should be in brine or spring-water.

1 small onion, finely chopped
1 cup grated gruyere or 1 cup tasty cheese

  • Pour into prepared dish. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and pour over melted butter. Sprinkle with the parmesan. Bake for 20 - 30 minutes or until golden.
  • Allow to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Note ~ I made ny own breadcrumbs by processing 3 slices day old bread, and then poured the melted butter in the processor for final processing to mix inches.

TASTY TUNA MORNAY

Tasty Tuna Mornay image

PERFECT TUNA MORNAY

Perfect Tuna Mornay image

This is a dish we had a lot growing up. Mum would use potato chips for a crunchy topping, but I hardly ever have those in the house. It is relatively quick, and inexpensive and can be stretched even further with a green salad.
