1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1-1/2 cups pecan halves
1-1/2 cups walnut halves
1 cup unblanched almonds

Steps:

  • In a greased 3-qt. slow cooker, mix butter, confectioners' sugar and spices. Add nuts; toss to coat. Cook, covered, on low 2-3 hours or until nuts are crisp, stirring once., Transfer nuts to waxed paper to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

1 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tbsp paprika
4 cups of Crispix Cereal (plain corn and rice)
2 cups of Rice Chex
2 cups plain Cheerios
2 cups of pretzel sticks
1 box cheese stick crackers
Optional spices: 1 tsp onion powder (1/2 tbsp dried dill)

Steps:

  • Get out your slow cooker and spray the inside with vegetable cooking spray.
  • In a very large bowl, combine the cereals, nuts, crackers and pretzels. In microwave (or on stove) melt butter and mix in spices and Worcestershire. Pour over dry ingredients and stir gently to mix thoroughly.
  • Place in the crockpot. Place a paper towel over top of the crockpot and place the lid on top. Cook on high for an hour, then remove the lid and stir and turn it down to low. Stir every 20 minutes or so to prevent burning.
  • The mix will be done when you can see that all of the butter mixture has been absorbed and is dry.

Cooking spray
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons finely grated orange zest
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups raw pecans
2 cups unsalted roasted cashews

Steps:

  • Line the insert of a 6-quart slow cooker with heavy-duty foil, and spray with cooking spray.
  • Whisk together the maple syrup, butter, cinnamon, orange zest, salt and cayenne in a large bowl. Add the pecans and cashews, and toss to coat. Add the nuts to the slow cooker in an even layer, cover and turn the heat to high. Cook until a light syrup forms at the bottom, 1 hour.
  • Turn the heat to low, stir the nuts and continue to cook, stirring every 20 minutes, until the nuts are glazed and the bottom of the cooker is dry, about 1 hour.
  • Turn the slow cooker off, uncover and let the nuts harden, stirring occasionally, up to 2 hours. If not serving immediately, the nuts can be stored in an airtight container up to 5 days.

1 c each of whole cashews, almonds (toasted), pecan halves, and hazelnuts (toasted and skins removed)
1/2 c sugar
1/3 c butter (softened)
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves (i would use judgment in using that much)
dash(es) of cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Place all nuts into a 2-3 1/3 quart slow cooker. In a small bowl mix together sugar, butter, ground ginger, salt, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and cayenne pepper. Toss with nuts in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring once after the first hour. Pour onto buttered foil and cool 1 hour. Store in a covered container at room temp for up to 3 weeks. Makes 22 (1/4 cup) servings

2 pounds ground beef (I used 80-20)
1 large onion (diced)
1 red bell pepper (diced)
1 green bell pepper (diced)
5 garlic cloves (minced)
2 large jalapeno peppers (minced (remove the seeds and veins for less heat...leave them for more heat))
1/4 cup chili powder
3 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons ground cayenne pepper (Or more if you like a lot of heat!)
2 tablespoon crushed red pepper
6 ounce jar of chopped sweet peppers and juice
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 - 28 ounce can tomato sauce
1 - 28 ounce can crushed fire roasted tomatoes (I use Muir Glen Organic)
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a large frying pan, brown the ground beef until no longer pink and transfer to the slow cooker using a slotted spoon. Drain off all but two tablespoons of fat and add the onions to the pan.
  • Cook the onions over med-high heat until they begin to soften. Add the peppers to the onions and sauté until softened. Add the garlic and jalapeno peppers, cooking for one minute longer. Transfer the mixture to the slow cooker with the beef.
  • Add the chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, crushed red pepper, sweet peppers and juice to the beef mixture and stir to combine.
  • Add the brown sugar, tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes stirring thoroughly to be sure all the ingredients are incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste and cook in the slow cooker on high for 3-4 hours or low for 5-6 hours.
  • Serve with your favorite chili toppings, we love greek yogurt, sour cream, shredded cheddar, green onions, and pickled jalapenos...just to name a few.

3 Tbsp brown sugar
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
4 Tbsp ketchup
2 Tbsp soy sauce
2 Tbsp cornstarch
2 Tbsp water

  • In a fry-pan over high heat, quickly sear the pork loin.
  • In a slow cooker, combine the brown sugar, ginger, apple cider vinegar, pineapple juice, ketchup, and soy sauce.

  • Cook for 6-8 hours on low.

4 cups Chex or Shreddies Cereal
3 cups Cheerios Cereal
3 cups pretzel sticks
2 cups small pretzels
1 cup small plain crackers ((1 to 1 1/2 inch in size, use cheese flavoured crackers, if desired))
2 cups roasted salted peanuts
1 cup pecans ((optional))
1 cup unsalted butter ((melted))
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
a dash of sriracha or other hot sauce ((optional, for flavour not spiciness))

Steps:

  • Turn your slow cooker on and add the cereals, pretzels, crackers, and nuts.
  • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, seasoning salt, and Sriracha. One small dash of Sriracha will not make the snack mix spicy, it simply adds flavour.
  • Pour the butter mixture over the ingredients in the slow cooker and toss gently but thoroughly with a rubber spatula (this prevents the ingredients from breaking) until everything is well coated.
  • Cook on high in your slow cooker for about 2 hours, stirring every half hour or so. I recommend taking the lid off the slow cooker for the last 15 minutes of cooking to let any moisture evaporate.
  • Be sure to let the snack mix cool completely before packing it up for storage in an airtight container. This will prevent the snack mix from becoming soggy and keep it nice and crispy. The best way to do this is on some parchment paper on a large tray or baking sheet.
  • Once the snack mix is cooled completely, store it in airtight containers or serve immediately.

  • At the end of the cooking time use a spoon to scoop out the peanuts and spread them out on wax paper or parchment paper. Be sure to use a spoon the peanuts will he hot to the touch and you don’t want to burn your fingers.
  • Once the peanuts are cooled and the coating has hardened they are ready to eat. These peanuts will keep in an airtight container for about a week.
