Categories     Bread     Yeast Bread Recipes     White Bread Recipes

Time 5h5m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 ¼ cups slightly warm water
½ cup dill pickle juice
3 ½ cups bread flour
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
¼ cup diced dill pickles, or to taste
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon dried dill weed
cooking spray
1 teaspoon sea salt

Steps:

  • Dissolve yeast and sugar in water and pickle juice in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Let stand until yeast softens and begins to form bubbles, about 5 minutes.
  • Add flour, Cheddar cheese, pickles, olive oil, and dill to yeast mixture. Mix with the dough hook on medium speed until smooth and elastic, 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Coat a slow cooker insert with cooking spray. Shape dough into a loaf, place in slow cooker, and sprinkle the top with sea salt. Drape a thin kitchen towel, cheesecloth, or paper towel over the slow cooker before adding the lid. This will keep any moisture from dripping onto the bread.
  • Let dough rise for 1 hour 30 minutes. Turn slow cooker on Low for 15 minutes; turn off and let rise another 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • Cook on High for 1 hour 30 minutes. Reduce heat to Low and cook until bottom of bread is browned, about 15 minutes.
  • Let bread cool before slicing, placing loaf on its side or on a wire rack to keep the bottom from getting soggy.

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup dill pickle brine

  • Serve the pork on buns with coleslaw, baked beans, pickle slices and BBQ sauce!
  • For an easy leftover idea, add the pork to tortilla chips, top with cheese and broil until bubbly. Top with your favorite nacho toppings like pickled jalapenos, sour cream, salsa, scallions and lime juice. Easy lunch or snack!

SLOW COOKER BREAD

Slow Cooker Bread image

Although this dough has no color, it is light and airy, like the soft inside of a loaf of French bread. The other surprising part is there's no need to let it rise. You can go directly from making the dough to baking with no waiting around. Magic.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 3h

Yield 1 loaf

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus more for the pan
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour (see Cook's Note)

Steps:

  • Butter a 6-by-3-inch round pan and set aside.
  • Combine the butter, yeast, sugar, salt and 1 cup warm water in a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment. With the mixer on low speed, add 1/2 cup of the flour at a time, waiting for each addition to be fully incorporated before adding more. Once all of the flour is added, knead on medium speed for 8 minutes.
  • Transfer the dough to the prepared pan, transfer the pan to a 6- to 8-quart slow cooker and cover with the lid. Cook on high until the internal temperature of the bread registers 200 degrees F, about 2 hours. Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then turn out onto a rack and let cool completely.

SLOW-COOKER BANANA BREAD

Slow-Cooker Banana Bread image

I love to use my slow cooker. I started to experiment with making bread in it so I wouldn't have to heat up my kitchen by turning on my oven. It's so easy and simple. I make this slow-cooker banana bread all the time. -Nicole Gackowski, Antioch, California

Provided by Taste of Home

Categories     Snacks

Time 2h40m

SLOW COOKER BREAD

Slow cooker bread image

Make an easy loaf with this slow cooker bread recipe. This simple project is perfect for beginners and uses strong wholemeal or white flour

Provided by Barney Desmazery

Categories     Side dish, Snack

Time 2h55m

Yield 1 loaf

Number Of Ingredients 3

500g strong wholemeal flour or strong white flour (or a mix of flours, see tip), plus extra for dusting
7g sachet fast-action dried yeast
1g fine sea salt

Steps:

  • Mix the flour, yeast and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the middle. Measure 350ml warm water and pour most of it into the well. Mix the flour and water together with your fingers or a wooden spoon until combined into a slightly wet, pillowy, workable dough - add a splash more water if necessary.
  • Tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for at least 10 mins until smooth and elastic. This can also be done in a tabletop mixer with a dough hook.
  • Shape the dough into a large, tight ball and sit the ball on a square of baking parchment. Use the parchment to lift the dough into your slow cooker, cover and set the slow cooker to high. Leave for 2 hrs.
  • Lift the bread out using the parchment. The bottom should be crusty and the top should be springy, not soft. (If you have a digital cooking thermometer, the middle of the loaf should be 90C.) If it isn't ready, return to the slow cooker for 15 mins and test again - it could take up to 2 hrs 30 mins.
  • The bread won't get a significant crust or golden colour in the slow cooker. Once cooked, you can leave it to cool, or put in the oven at 240C/220C fan/gas 9 for 5-10 mins to get some colour.

SLOW COOKER RYE BREAD

Slow Cooker Rye Bread image

If you haven't made bread in your slow cooker or Crockpot, you've got to give it a try. This recipe is excellent for sandwiches or to serve with soup. Just mix it up, form it into a ball, pop it into your slower cooker on High and walk away. This bread is also a great way to use up that extra pickle juice in your pickle jar.

Provided by Beverly MATHESON

Categories     Savory Breads

Time 1h30m

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 1/2 tsp instant dry yeast
2/3 c lukewarm water
1/4 c vegetable oil
3/4 c pickle juice
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp caraway seeds
1 1/4 tsp dill seeds
1 Tbsp yellow dry mustard or prepared dijon mustard
3/4 c instant mashed potato flakes
2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1 1/3 c pumpernickle flour

Steps:

  • 1. Soften yeast in warm water. (Use 2/3 cups if climate is humid. If dry climate up it to 7/8 of a cup.)
  • 2. Add vegetable oil, pickle juice, salt, sugar, seeds and mustard.
  • 3. Combine instant potato flakes and flours. Slowly add to the wet mixture until you have a firm but slightly sticky dough. (You can use your bread hook on your mixer or do this by hand.) Form it into a nice round ball (adding more flour mixture if too sticky to handle).
  • 4. Place a piece of parchment paper in your slow cooker (large enough to come up a bit on the sides) and place your dough ball in the center. Turn your slow cooker on high. Bake the loaf for about an hour and 15 minutes. (Slow cooker heats vary so check it after about an hour. As soon as it sounds hollow when you tap it, it is done.)
  • 5. Turn off your slow cooker and carefully remove the bread. Turn on your oven's broiler. Paint the top of the loaf with a bit of egg wash and place it under the broiler for 3-5 minutes until it starts to caramelize. (You don't have to do this step if you don't care that your bread top isn't golden brown. It still tastes fantastic.)
  • 6. The final step? ENJOY!!!!!

3/4 cup seasoned panko bread crumbs
