SLOW COOKER HOT FUDGE PUDDING CAKE

Slow Cooker Hot Fudge Pudding Cake image

Rich, decadent, and fudgy chocolate cake, right in your Crock Pot! It's totally doable (downright easy, actually) - and totally irresistible.

Provided by Kare for Kitchen Treaty

Time 3h40m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 cup all-purpose flour*
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar

Vanilla ice cream for serving
2.5 - 3.5 quart slow cooker

Steps:

  • To a medium bowl, add all of the batter ingredients (flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, milk, butter, and vanilla extract). Whisk together until blended and smooth. Using a spatula, spread batter in the bottom of a Crock Pot.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry layer (granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder). Sprinkle evenly over the top of the batter.
  • Slowly pour the hot water over the top.
  • Cook on high until cake has puffed up and it springs back when you poke it with your finger, 3 to 4 hours.
  • Use a spoon to scoop cake and sauce onto dessert plates along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Serve.

FUDGE PUDDING CAKE FOR THE SLOW-COOKER

Fudge Pudding Cake for the Slow-Cooker image

This recipe is from the Wheat Foods Council. Fudge pudding cake was the first thing I cooked as a new wife 30 years ago. Its a dark fudgy chocolate cake with thick fudgy sauce that bakes right in the pan, served warm with icecream or whipped cream. Heaven in a crockpot is the only way to describe this cake.

Provided by Sandy in Oklahoma

Categories     Dessert

Time 2h15m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 3/4 cups boiling water

Steps:

  • Note: Crock pot times vary greatly. The cooking time is correct for my crock pot but may not be correct for yours. Watch cake closely the first time you use the recipe to get the right cooking length for your your particular crock pot. This recipe was written for a 4 quart crockpot. If different size is used, that will also impact the cooking time.
  • Spray the crock-pot with baking spray.
  • Mix 1 cup brown sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl. Stir in milk, margarine and vanilla. Spoon batter into bottom of crock pot (dough is very thick).
  • In another bowl, mix together 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle evenly over batter. Do not stir.
  • Pour boiling water over the top. Do not stir. Cover and cook on high for 2 to 2-1/2 hours or until the cake pulls away from the sides of the crock-pot (pudding will be bubbling through).
  • Serve immediately with ice cream or whipped topping if desired. Or let set for 10 minutes and then invert onto a plate. Spoon pudding left in the pot over the cake.

EASY GOOEY BROWNIES

Easy gooey brownies image

Know the secret to gooey brownies? Don't overcook them, and dot through caramel or chocolates filled with liquid caramel or ganache to help add moisture

Provided by Katie Hiscock

Categories     Dessert

Time 50m

Yield Makes 20

Number Of Ingredients 11

150g butter
75g light soft brown sugar
150g plain chocolate, broken into pieces
1 tbsp golden syrup
3 eggs
125g golden caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
150g plain flour
½ tsp baking powder
3 tbsp cocoa powder, plus more to dust
4-6 tbsp dulce de leche, caramel or chocolate hazelnut spread

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Line a 20cm square cake tin with baking parchment. Melt together the butter, brown sugar, chocolate and golden syrup gently on a low heat until it is smooth. Remove the pan from the heat.
  • Whisk together the eggs and caster sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy - this will take a few minutes and is worth doing properly. Add the vanilla extract, then sift over the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder and add the chocolate mixture. Fold everything together quickly and scoop half of the mixture into the tin. Dot over scoops of caramel or chocolate hazelnut spread and then scoop the rest of the brownie mixture over the top. Add more scoops of caramel or chocolate spread, if you like, and bake for 30 mins. The top of the mixture should now be set and slightly cracked looking, but the mixture underneath will still have a slight wobble.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before cutting into squares. Dust the tops with cocoa or icing sugar, if you like, or if serving as a dessert drizzle with more caramel. Will keep for 3 days in an airtight container.

  • Prepare brownie mix with eggs, oil, and water (or as directed on the back of the box). Pour into prepared slow cooker.
  • Whisk pudding mix and milk in a medium sized bowl until smooth. Pour carefully over the brownie mix in the crockpot.
  • Cover the crock pot with a paper towel and place the lid on top (to catch the condensation). Cook on high power 2-3 hours. It will probably take at least 2 1/2 hours, but start checking it after 2. Some of the pudding stays on the top and stays wet looking, so you cannot trust the toothpick test and it will stay somewhat jiggly until it's done. Watch the edges - when they look somewhat dry and done, then the pudding is ready. Baking time will be different for every slow cooker, but after 3 hours on high it should be done. You don't want to overcook it or the brownie (which is on the bottom) will be dry.
