I often take this slow-cooker monkey bread to church potlucks-children and adults love it! The rum extract is optional. -Lisa Leaper, Worthington, Ohio

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
4 tubes (6 ounces each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits, quartered
3/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup apple juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon rum extract
Toasted chopped pecans, optional

Steps:

  • Line a 5-qt. slow cooker with a piece of aluminum foil, letting ends extend up the sides. Grease foil., Combine the sugars, cinnamon and allspice in a large bowl; sprinkle 3 tablespoons sugar mixture in bottom of prepared slow cooker. Add biscuit pieces to bowl; toss to coat. Transfer coated biscuits to slow cooker; sprinkle any remaining sugar mixture over biscuits. , Stir together butter, apple juice and extracts; pour over biscuits. , Cook, covered, on low 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Remove lid and let stand for 10 minutes. Carefully invert onto serving platter. If desired, sprinkle with pecans.

No baking know-how necessary for this easy monkey bread; no oven, either! We made this cinnamon-spiced deliciousness in a slow cooker!

1 can (16 oz.) refrigerated biscuits
1/2 cup sugar, divided
1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 oz. (1/4 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 tsp. milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Cut biscuits into quarters. Reserve 1 Tbsp. sugar for later use. Combine pudding mix, cinnamon, nuts and remaining sugar.
  • Dip biscuit pieces, 1 at a time, in butter, then in pudding mixture, turning to evenly coat each piece. Place in slow cooker sprayed with cooking spray; drizzle with any remaining butter. Sprinkle with any remaining pudding mixture; cover with lid.
  • Cook on LOW 2-1/2 hours. Turn off heat. Let bread stand, covered, in slow cooker 15 min. Meanwhile, whisk remaining sugar, cream cheese and milk in bowl until blended.
  • Transfer bread from slow cooker to wire rack; drizzle with glaze. Cool completely.

(If you plan to serve the dish immediately after cooking rather than keeping it warm in the slow cooker, reduce the water to ⅓ cup.)
  • In a medium bowl combine the remaining cup of brown sugar, coarse salt and ground cinnamon. Cut each biscuit into quarters and roll it into a ball. Coat each ball in butter and then brown sugar mixture and place in slow cooker in an even single layer. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 1 ½ to 2 hours, or until dough is cooked through in the center. Keep warm up to five hours.
  • To serve, uncover the slow cooker and place an inverted serving platter the same size or larger over top. Using kitchen towels if slow cooker is still warm, press the platter over the bowl of the cooker and carefully flip it over to release the monkey bread.
