Turn a classic drink into a speedy spread by topping seasoned cream cheese with chopped celery, olives and pickles.

2 tablespoons milk
3/4 cup chili sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons red pepper sauce
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2/3 cup finely chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped or sliced ripe olives
1/2 cup finely chopped baby dill pickles
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In medium bowl, beat cream cheese and milk with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Spread on 10-inch round serving plate.
  • In small bowl, mix chili sauce, pepper sauce, celery salt and sugar. Pour over cream cheese mixture to within 1/2 inch of edge. Top with rows of celery, olives and pickles. Serve with crackers.

This recipe is one I started making years ago by accident, when I was out of barbecue sauce and tried Bloody Mary mix instead. My children love it! (I like to wash, skin and remove fat from the chicken the night before and refrigerate, so that it only takes a few minutes to prepare the meal before I leave for work.)

  • Wash, skin and remove fat from chicken breasts and place in a slow cooker.
  • Pour Bloody Mary mix over the chicken breasts, turn slow cooker to low and cook on low for 8 hours.

8 ounces mascarpone, at room temperature
3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce, such as Tabasco
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish, liquid squeezed out
Zest of 1 lemon plus 1 teaspoon juice
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon celery seeds
1 head celery, cut into 4-inch sticks

Steps:

  • Put the mascarpone in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a metal blade and pulse until smooth. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula and add the Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, tomato paste, ketchup, horseradish, lemon zest and juice, salt and celery seeds. Process, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed, until the dip is smooth, about 1 minute.
  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and serve with celery sticks for dipping.

If you're a Bloody Mary fan, then you're going to LOVE this chili! With all the bold flavors of that popular drink, it's a hearty bowl of goodness that's loaded with beef, beans, and warm spicy flavors.

2 pounds ground beef
2 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion - chopped
1 tablespoon tomato paste concentrate - I use the tube version
3 cloves garlic - chopped
3 tablespoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon cumin
3 cups Bloody Mary Mix
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 15.5 oz can red kidney beans - drained and rinsed
1 15.5 oz can navy or cannellini beans - drained and rinsed

Steps:

  • In a dutch oven, cook onion until translucent. Add ground beef and cook until done. Drain off grease. Add tomato paste, garlic, chili powder, celery salt, salt, pepper and cumin. Cook for 1 minute. Add Bloody Mary Mix and stir all ingredients together.
  • Add in sugar, Worcestershire sauce, tomatoes and beans. Bring chili up to a boil then reduce to simmer. Place lid, slightly offset on pot and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings like sour cream, hot sauce, jalapenos, chopped onion or scallion.
  • *SLOW COOKER INSTRUCTIONS*
  • Cook ground beef and onion in a skillet then place in bottom of slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Place lid on cooker.
  • Cook on LOW FOR 6 - 8 HOURS or Cook on HIGH FOR 3 - 4 HOURS

1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon ground pepper
8 pitted olives
8 spicy pickled string beans
Ice and lime wedges for serving
8 stalks celery

Steps:

  • Mix vegetable juice, pickle juice, vodka, lemon juice, hot sauce, horseradish, Worcestershire and pepper in a large pitcher.
  • Thread 1 olive, 1 pickled bean and 1 lemon slice onto each of 8 skewers.
  • Fill 8 glasses with ice. Stir the mix in the pitcher to make sure it is well combined, then divide among the glasses. Garnish each with 1 vegetable skewer, 1 celery stalk, 1 pickle spear and a lime wedge, if desired. Serve immediately.

1/2 cup spicy V8 vegetable juice
1/2 cup finely minced onion
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup tomato puree
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
2 tablespoons lemon juice
hot sauce
red food coloring (optional)

Steps:

  • Puree until smooth in blender or food processor. Chill before serving.
  • I served this with celery sticks, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes.
