SWEET CHILI ASIAN MEATBALLS

Sweet Chili Asian Meatballs image

Provided by Brianna Jenkins

Time 35m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 21

1 slice white bread
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 pound ground pork
1/2 pound ground lamb
1/2 pound ground bison
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1 tablespoon peeled and finely grated fresh ginger
2 serrano peppers, chopped
2 shallots, chopped
1/2 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon plum vinegar
1/2 teaspoon mirin
1 lime, juiced
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 egg
3 to 4 tablespoons olive oil
1 jar sweet chili sauce
1/2 cup panko crumbs, toasted
3 tablespoons chopped crystallized ginger

Steps:

  • Soak the slice of bread in the milk in a small bowl.
  • Mix the ground meats, soaked bread, and all remaining ingredients, up to the olive oil, until well combined.
  • Roll the meat mixture into walnut-sized balls. In a large saute pan, over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil and sear the meatballs. If you can't fit them all in the pan at once, cook in batches. Sear into golden brown, about 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the chili sauce over low heat.
  • Stick a toothpick or skewer into each meatball, then dip them into the sauce. Roll the tips in toasted panko and crystallized ginger and serve.

Saucy Asian Meatballs image

are the perfect blend of flavors and are drenched in the most insanely delicious sauce! Perfect for dinner or even an appetizer, they will certainly get a "WOW!" at your next get together!

Provided by Alyssa Rivers

Categories     Appetizer     Dinner     Main Course

Time 22m

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 pounds ground pork or ground beef
2 teaspoon sesame oil
1 cup Panko or breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
2 large eggs
3 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 Cup thinly-sliced green onions
Optional garnish: toasted sesame seeds, sliced scallions
2/3 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon ground ginger

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • In a large bowl, mix together meatball ingredients until well-combined. Shape into balls (I made mine about 1.5 inches, which yielded about 35 meatballs, but 1 inch is probably standard), and place on a greased baking sheet or in a 9×13 baking dish.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until meatballs are golden on the outside and no longer pink on the inside.
  • While the meatballs are baking, whisk together all of the sauce ingredients until blended. Once meatballs have finished cooking, you can either dip each meatball individually (using a toothpick) in the sauce mixture. Or you can pour the sauce over the meatballs and gently stir them until covered.
  • Serve warm, and sprinkle with additional garnish if desired.

ASIAN PORK MEATBALLS

Asian Pork Meatballs image

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 1h15m

Yield 6 to 8 servings (about 18 meatballs)

Number Of Ingredients 20

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cups thinly sliced green cabbage (about 1/4 head)
Kosher salt
8 ounces shiitake mushrooms, stems removed, caps thinly sliced
Freshly ground white pepper
2 large eggs plus 1 egg white
1 1/2 pounds ground pork
4 scallions, minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
One 2-inch piece ginger, peeled and finely grated (about 1 tablespoon)
3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup hoisin sauce
2 teaspoons Sriracha chile sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
3 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 head Boston lettuce, leaves separated

Steps:

  • Make the meatballs: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the cabbage and season with 1/4 teaspoon salt; cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 4 minutes. Transfer the cabbage to a plate to cool. Wipe out the pan, then add the remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and the mushrooms. Season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Transfer the mushrooms to the plate with the cabbage to cool.
  • Lightly beat the eggs and egg white in a large bowl. Add the pork, scallions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and cornstarch. Add the cabbage, mushrooms and a few grinds of pepper and mix with your hands until just combined (do not overmix). Dampen your hands and shape the meat mixture into 18 balls (about 2 inches each); arrange on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Make the sauce: Mix the hoisin sauce, Sriracha, vinegar, sugar and 1 tablespoon water in a bowl; set aside 1/2 cup for serving. Brush the meatballs with the remaining sauce and sprinkle with the sesame seeds. Bake until cooked through, 18 to 22 minutes. Serve in lettuce leaves with the reserved sauce.

MEATBALLS IN A SWEET 'N SPICY ASIAN SAUCE WITH WARM ASIAN SLAW

Meatballs in a Sweet 'n Spicy Asian Sauce With Warm Asian Slaw image

This is a great way to take a classic meatball and make it a little modern with an Asian sauce instead.....trust me......everyone will love them! I made yet, another batch of my quick and delicious Nana's Meatballs. I love making a recipe that I can use in different ways. I used half of the meatballs to have with a traditional red sauce over pasta and the other half with the Asian Sauce. I had two totally different dishes. I like serving the Spicy Asian Meatballs as an appetizer on top of a bed of this delicious Warm Asian Slaw. The next time you want to make meatballs, surprise your family and friends with a little something different. Enjoy!

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Combine all the meatball ingredients in a large bowl. Using your hands or a large spoon, mix the ingredients together until well combined. Shape the mixture into 1" balls*. I used a small 1" cookie scoop and was able to form them very quickly. If you prefer larger meatballs, simply use a larger scoop. Place the meatballs on 2 greased baking sheets or sheets lined with silpat mats. Bake for approximately 10 minutes, or until the meatballs are lightly browned on the outside and no longer pink inside.
  • While the meatballs are baking, whisk together all the sauce ingredients. Gently toss the sauce with the cooked meatballs to coat them once they are finished baking. Alternatively, you can combine the cooked meatballs and the sauce in a crock-pot and keep them warm until ready to eat.
  • * I made the meatballs pretty small, at just about bite size for most of my family. The recipe made (65) 1" meatballs. The recipe should make approximately (35) 1.5" meatballs.
  • FREEZER MEAL: Let the meatballs and the sauce cool completely before transferring the meatballs to an airtight container or large freezer safe ziploc bag. Cover with the sauce and freeze. Thaw in the refrigerator prior to reheating in the microwave.
