2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/8 teaspoon pepper
6 cups coarsely chopped cabbage
1 tablespoon water

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar, salt, pepper flakes and pepper. Add the cabbage and water. Cook for 5-6 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally.

A very simple stir-fry dish. The reason for using only soya sauce for stir-frying cabbage is that it brings out the natural sweetness in the cabbage itself.

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound shredded cabbage
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing wine)

Steps:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat. Stir in the garlic, and cook for a few seconds until it begins to brown. Stir in the cabbage until it is coated in oil; cover the wok, and cook for 1 minute. Pour in the soy sauce, and cook and stir for another minute. Increase the heat to high, and stir in the Chinese cooking wine. Cook and stir until the cabbage is tender, about 2 minutes more.

1 cup white corn syrup
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
6 cups cornflakes cereal
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
⅔ cup peanuts

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the peanut butter, corn syrup, brown sugar and white sugar. Cook stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and quickly mix in the corn flakes, chocolate chips and peanuts until evenly coated.
  • Press the entire mixture gently into a buttered 9x13 inch baking dish. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

1/4 lb bacon
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup very thinly sliced celery
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
6 cups cabbage, chopped to about 1 inch dice
1/4 cup chicken stock
salt and black pepper

Steps:

  • In a large, deep skillet,on medium heat, cook bacon until crisp. Remove to paper towels to drain. Pour off all but about 2 to 3 tablespoons of fat and saute onion and celery til onion is somewhat translucent. Add chicken stock, red pepper flakes and cabbage. Cover and simmer til cabbage is tender/crisp. season to taste with salt and pepper. Crumble bacon and
  • mix with cabbage. Serve.

1 lb bacon, chopped
2 dashes Tabasco sauce
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Brown bacon in a skillet.
  • Add chopped cabbage to bacon and cook on medium high.
  • Stir to coat the cabbage with the bacon grease.
  • Cook for 4 minutes on medium high.
  • Add Tabasco and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve and enjoy!

5 slices bacon
2 tablespoons butter
1 head cabbage, sliced into thin strips
1 small yellow onion, diced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pinch white sugar

Steps:

  • Place the bacon in a large pot or Dutch oven and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on paper towels and reserve drippings in the pot.
  • Melt butter in bacon drippings in the pot over medium heat. Stir cabbage, onion, salt, pepper, and sugar into butter and bacon drippings. Cover the pot. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage and onion are tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Crumble bacon into cooked cabbage.

This is one of my original recipes that my family really likes, and is easy to make but takes about one hour to prepare and cook.

1 head cabbage, cut in quarters
1 yellow onion, diced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 bouillon cube

Steps:

  • Cut cabbage into quarters and soak in tap water with a pinch of sugar.
  • and let set for 10 minute Then drain in a colinder and set aside.
  • In a deep skillet brown diced onions, when lightly browned add the cabbage to the onions using a wooden spoon to seperate the leaves of the cabbage . Reduce fire to a simmer gentle folding the cabbage into the onions, allowing the cabbage to turn a golden brown. When golden brown add the water and bullion cube, salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar fold in till well dispersed cover with tight lid, reduce the fire to low and allow to simmer for 15 minutes .
  • My family like to have cornbread with this dish. If you like your cornbread a little spicy add some chopped jelapeno sparingly to the cornbread batter. Just the right touch to this easy to prepare meal.
