LAVENDER GIN AND TONIC PUNCH

Lavender Gin and Tonic Punch image

Lavender Gin and Tonic Punch is light and refreshing! It's naturally flavored and the beautiful purple color is from butterfly pea tea. Absolutely perfect party punch for spring and summer.

Time 3h10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 cups gin
2 tbsp dried lavender (food grade )
4 ounces lime juice (fresh squeezed )
2 tbsp dried butterfly pea flower
32 ounces tonic water

Steps:

  • Combine 2 tablespoons lavender to 1 1/12 cups gin. The longer the lavender sits in the gin, the stronger the taste and smell. For this, you can do anywhere from 5-24 hours. After 5 hours you will be able to smell and taste the lavender.
  • Combined 2 tablespoons dried butterfly pea flowers with 4 ounces lime juice and let it infuse for about an hour. It turned a deep purple color that was perfect when mixed with the other ingredients.
  • Once everything is infused, add the ingredients into a punch bowl with 32 ounces tonic water crushed ice right before serving

BEST FRESH MARGARITAS BY THE PITCHER

Best Fresh Margaritas by the Pitcher image

This is a wonderful recipe for Margaritas on the Rocks by the pitcher-full! It is best to prepare the lime-lemon juice and zests mixture before hand to allow them to meld appropriately -- Cooking time reflects refrigeration time. I discovered this in Cook's Illustrated Magazine -- just in time for summer! I have altered the ingredients to suit my personal taste. Enjoy!

GIN AND TONIC

Gin and Tonic image

This refreshing summer cocktail for a crowd came to The Times by way of Toby Cecchini, a bartender and the inventor of the once ubiquitous cosmopolitan cocktail. This recipe originated with his father, Andrea Cecchini, a research chemist who "brought his scrutiny to bear on cocktails." A few things the senior Mr. Cecchini would insist upon here: Use a pitcher because proportion is crucial, and you need plenty of room for the ice, tonic and limes. The limes should be room temperature. The tonic chilled, and the ice cracked, preferably by hand. Of course, do what you can, and if you want to make a single cocktail, simply divide the amounts by four (use the juice of one lime per cocktail and have another on hand for garnish). Toby likes to use Tanqueray for "its punchy botanicals and authority; it is 94 proof to the more common 80, making it cantankerous in a martini, but perfect for a G and T."
