REINDEER FOOD

Reindeer Food image

Warning: This is very addicitive!! I found this recipe at my in-laws house & thought it sounded good. I was right, it is now a Christmas tradition to make it. You can play around with the ingredients, omitting coconut, using a chocolate flavored cereal instead of the kix cereal. I have only used the vanilla flavored almond bark, but I'm sure that any flavor would be very good.

MAGICAL REINDEER FOOD

Magical Reindeer Food image

Make these as a fun activity with your children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews. This magical food is perfect for kids to give to their friends or to use themselves on Christmas Eve.

Number Of Ingredients 5

Raw uncooked oats
Sugar cookie sprinkles
Plastic sandwich or snack baggies
Ribbon in festive holiday colors
Paper for the printable tags

Steps:

  • Pour 3-4 tablespoons of oats into each plastic bag. Add a tablespoon or two of sprinkles. Iridescent sprinkles or red and green sprinkles are good choices; but use what you have on hand. (You can even use the fine sanding sugar used for sand tarts. Just beware: If you mix red and green sugar, the resulting color will be a less festive shade of brown.) Close the baggie with a piece of ribbon, and shake to mix. If using a zipper top bag, punch a small hole in the corner and thread a piece of ribbon through the hole. Make a tag by writing or printing the poem (printed below) onto a piece of paper or card stock. Add the tag to the bag for a fun gift for children to give their friends to use on Christmas Eve-or save and use themselves! After you put out the milk and cookies for Santa, head outside to sprinkle this magic reindeer food on the snow or your lawn.

REINDEER CHOW (CHRISTMAS SNACK MIX)

Reindeer Chow (Christmas Snack Mix) image

This reindeer food snack mix is perfect to have on hand throughout the holidays! It's super quick and easy to make a batch of this Christmas puppy chow, and it's always a crowd pleaser!

Provided by Becky Hardin - The Cookie Rookie

Categories     Snack

Time 17m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1½ cups semisweet chocolate chips (255 grams)
¾ cup creamy peanut butter (203 grams)
2 tablespoons caramel sauce (40 grams)
3 tablespoons salted butter (42 grams)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (4 grams)
7 cups Chex cereal (210 grams)
1½ cups powdered sugar (160 grams)
1½ cups mini pretzels (60 grams)
1½ cups mini peanut butter cups (30 grams)
2 cups Christmas M&M's (340 grams)
½ cup salted peanuts (213 grams)
½ cup white chocolate chips (85 grams)

Steps:

  • In a microwavable bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips, peanut butter, caramel sauce, and butter. Microwave and stir chocolate mixture in 20-30 second intervals (checking in-between intervals to make sure it's not burnt) until completely melted when stirred together. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour the cereal into a large bowl and add in the chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel mixture. Stir the cereal in the mixture until it is all evenly coated being careful not to break the cereal pieces.
  • Grab a gallon-sized plastic bag (like a Ziplock bag) and add all the powdered sugar to the bag. Toss in the coated cereal and shake until all the powdered sugar adheres to the cereal. (You might need two bags to fit it all)
  • Place cereal mixture into a clean large bowl and then stir in the mini pretzels, mini peanut butter cups, Christmas M&M's, salted peanuts, and white chocolate chips.
