- Heat a clean fireplace poker - an old, seasoned one is best - in the hot coals of a fire until glowing. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass, then carefully lower the red-hot tip into the glass. If the poker is hot enough, the alcohol will spontaneously ignite. Don't fret too much if ignition doesn't occur - you'll still get the caramel-like flavor. Hold the poker there until the boiling begins to subside, then remove the poker and serve immediately.

- Put all the liquid ingredients in 42 cup coffee percolator.
- Fill basket with remaining ingredients.
- Plug in and brew.
- Cider is done when coffee maker stops perking.
- Makes approximately 24 (8 ounce) servings.
- OR, put liquid ingredients in a large kettle and tie the dry ingredients into a cheesecloth pouch. Simmer for about half an hour and serve.

- Combine 1 cup half-and-half and Belgian chocolate in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally with a whisk, until chocolate is melted and mixture is hot, about 5 minutes. Add Cabernet Sauvignon and heat for 2 minutes more, whisking occasionally, until hot. Divide into 2 mugs.
- Heat remaining 1/2 cup of half-and-half either on the stove or in the microwave until hot. Transfer to a milk frother and froth until creamy. Divide frothed half-and-half between the 2 mugs and sprinkle with grated chocolate.
