These easy smoked salmon canapes with cream cheese are the perfect appetizer or starter for parties. With only 4 ingredients required, salmon bites are both simple to make, and taste amazing!

20 crostini
2 ounces smoked salmon
4 ounces cream cheese ((spreadable or softened))
1 small bunch dill

Steps:

  • Place the blinis or crostinis on a serving tray or cutting board.
  • Spread a thick layer of cream cheese on top of crostinis or blinis.
  • Add a piece of smoked salmon on top of the cream cheese. Garnish with a small sprig of fresh dill. Keep the canapes refrigerated, or serve them immediately.

1 salmon fillet (about 2 pounds)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 to 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
Optional: Capers and lemon slices

Steps:

  • Place salmon, skin side down, in an 11x7-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle with brown sugar, salt and pepper. Drizzle with liquid smoke. Cover and refrigerate for 4-8 hours., Drain salmon, discarding liquid. Bake, uncovered, at 350° until fish flakes easily with a fork, 35-45 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight. If desired, serve with capers and lemon slices.

1 teaspoon snipped fresh dill or 1/4 teaspoon dill weed
36 slices cocktail rye bread
12 ounces sliced smoked salmon or lox
1 medium red onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings
Fresh dill sprigs, optional

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine cream cheese and dill. Spread on rye bread. Top with salmon and red onion. Garnish with dill sprigs if desired.
