1/2 lb butter
2 c crisco vegetable shortening
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp butter flavoring
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 lb confectioners' sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbsp meringue powder
1 Tbsp milk, if needed

Steps:

1. MIX BUTTER, CRISCO, AND SALT TOGETHER ON LOW SPEED FOR 5 MINUTES. ADD VANILLA, BUTTER FLAVOR, AND ALMOND EXTRACT. BEAT UNTIL WELL BLENDED. TURN MIXER ON TO THE LOWEST SPEED THE MIXER HAS, ADD SUGAR 1/2 CUP AT A TIME UNTIL SUGAR IS MIXED IN. TURN MIXER UP TO MEDIUM SPEED AND BEAT UNTIL SMOOTH AND CREAMY. THIS SHOULD TAKE 5 MINUTES.
2. SOME TIPS: SIFT SUGAR IT HELPS KEEP THE LUMPIES AWAY... MERINGUE POWDER AND BUTTER FLAVORING CAN BE FOUND WHERE CAKE DECORATING SUPPLIES ARE SOLD.

I use Recipe #95416 when I'm decorating a cake but we like this version on brownies, cookies or undecorated cakes. I cut the recipe in half for brownies. Goes really well on Recipe #2496. Freezes well also. (If you have leftovers, put it between graham cracker for a delicious snack or dessert. My kids love it that way!)

Ingredients

1 cup real butter, no substitute
1 1/2 teaspoons clear vanilla extract
1 pinch salt (optional)
5 cups confectioners' sugar
2 -3 tablespoons milk

Steps:

Cream butter and then add vanilla and optional salt. (To cut the sweetness I usually sprinkle some salt in the vanilla, so it will dissolve.).
Add sugar a cup at a time beating on medium speed. Add milk 1 Tbls. at a time and beat on high until completely blended and desired consistency.

Ingredients

9 ounces white chocolate
12 ounces Philadelphia Cream Cheese
6 ounces unsalted butter
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed

Steps:

Place the white chocolate in a batter bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir. Microwave another 30 seconds, stir, and repeat until the chocolate has melted. Do not overheat, but do make sure all of the particles are melted Set aside.
On a plate, microwave the cream cheese on half-power for 1 minute to soften. Set aside.
On another plate, microwave the butter on half power for 30-40 seconds, to soften it.
In electric mixer, whip the softened cream cheese for 2 minutes. Make sure it is completely fluffed, with no particles of cream cheese remaining.
Slowly beat in the melted chocolate and then gradually beat in the butter in chunks, and then the juice. Beat until light and fluffy.
Spread on cake, and also makes a great piping mixture for roses, borders, and etc.
Note: "This recipe was posted in response to a request for the Buttercream Frosting recipe from Publix Grocery Store chain in Florida. I must say this is the best Buttercream I have every tasted! Just remember, you absolutely must use real White Chocolate! You cannot use vanilla chips or almond bark; the results will be very disappointing if you do. The brand called for "White Satin" is not available in my area but any name brand white chocolate baking bar will work." - Glenda's Kitchen.
