PORK STEAK

Pork Steak image

An easy, one-pan dinner idea for tender, flavorful Pork Steaks topped with a savory brown onion gravy. Quick-cooking and sure to satisfy any appetite!

Provided by Kelly Anthony

Categories     Main Course

Time 28m

Number Of Ingredients 11

4 teaspoons Kosher salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
3 pounds thinly sliced pork shoulder blade steaks
2 tablespoons canola or avocado oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 1/4 cup low-sodium beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Pat the pork steaks dry with a paper towel and sprinkle both sides liberally with the seasoning. Set aside until ready to use.
  • Add the oil to a large sauté pan over medium-high heat and allow to come to temperature. Add the pork steaks to pan, taking care not to overcrowd the pan and cooking in batches if needed. Cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side, then flip and cook 3-4 minutes more. Remove from the pan and repeat with the remaining pork steaks. Set aside on a plate and make the gravy.
  • Reduce the heat to medium heat and add the butter. As soon as the butter has melted, add the onion to the pan and stir. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until softened and cooked through.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the onion and stir until evenly coated. Then, one big splash at a time, add the beef broth, whisking well after each addition. Once the mixture starts to resemble pudding, add the remaining broth all at once. Add the Worcestershire sauce and whisk to combine. Allow to simmer, 3-4 minutes, until slightly thickened. Remove from the heat.
  • Serve your pork steaks with a ladle full of gravy and enjoy.

We eat a lot of pork so this is a recipe I came up with when my boys were in school. I still make it for just the 3 of us(SO and RM). It's still a favorite!

Provided by CJAY8248

Categories     Pork

Time 1h10m

Yield 4 pork steaks, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

4 pork steaks (boneless is best)
garlic salt and black pepper (to taste)
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup celery, sliced thin on the diagonal
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 green pepper, thinly sliced
6 -8 mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can tomato soup
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon italian seasoning
1 (12 ounce) bag wide egg noodles, cooked as directed on package (or other pasta)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350*. Brown pork in hot oil until browned. Season with garlic salt and black pepper on both sides. Remove to 9x13" casserole dish. In same skillet, saute onions, celery and green pepper about 5-7 minutes. Add tomato soup, tomato sauce, and italian seasoning. Simmer 5 minutes. Put sliced mushrooms over meat in casserole and pour sauce over, spreading evenly over pork. Cover with foil. Bake in oven 45 minutes. When pork is nearly done, cook noodles in salted water until al dente (about 10-12 minutes). Serve each pork steak with noodles on the side topped with some of the sauce. I serve this with a tossed green salad and garlic bread.

DELICIOUS PORK AND NOODLES

Delicious Pork and Noodles image

This is the simplest pork and noodles recipe I know. It takes only 5 ingredients - two of which are salt and pepper. My kids LOVE this!! You'll be amazed at how good this is. I cook the meat in my crockpot, but my mom has always done it on the stovetop. I never believed her when she said it was flavored basically with salt, pepper and beef broth. I thought I was so smart and added spices and garlic, but I found that nothing I tried was as good as her version. As they say, mother knows best....uuggghhh!

Provided by Aggiezoey

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 4h5m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 -2 lb pork loin
2 (14 ounce) cans low sodium beef broth
1 (16 ounce) bag egg noodles
salt
pepper

Steps:

  • Sprinkle all sides of your pork loin liberally with salt and pepper.
  • Spray inside of crockpot with spray cooking oil (I do this because it makes cleaning the crock so much easier).
  • Place pork in crockpot along with about 1/4 cup of water and cook on low all day or high for about 3-4 hours (cooking time varies according to your crockpot and the size of your pork loin -- if it is large and I need it to be done faster, I will cut the loin into smaller chunks). You will know when it is done, when you can shred it with a fork.
  • About 15-20 minutes before I want to serve, in a pot on the stove, I bring the cans of broth to just the point of boiling and then I add the bag of noodles and cook basically according to the directions on the package. Hopefully, most of the liquid will be absorded, if any is left, you might want to drain it off. For this dish, the noodles should NOT be soupy.
  • While the noodles are cooking, remove your pork loin from the crockpot and gently shred the pork. We like it not to be stringy and not to have chunks that are too big. Just nice bite sized pieces.
  • When the noodles are done, add the pork to the pot of noodles and stir so pork is distributed throughout. If pork wasn't warm when you added it, let the noodles/pork reheat. Taste - if bland, you'll need to add more salt and pepper.
  • Serve with warm bread and a salad. Nice comfort food.
  • NOTE - my mom cooks the pork on the stove in a pot. After salt/peppering the pork, I think she browns all sides of the loin and then turns down to low and cooks for 2-3 hours - with a little water or broth in the bottom of the pan. Then she removes the pork to be shredded and in the same pot cooks her noodles and then adds pork back.
  • TIP - if you aren't worried about watching fat, add the juice/drippings that are in the bottom of the crockpot to the cans of broth - the drippings add an extra depth to the flavor of the dish!
  • NOTE - if your pork loin is on the small side (closer to 1 pound), you will want to use less noodles and less broth. You should be able to get pork with every bite of noodles.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Ingredients     Meat & Poultry     Pork Recipes

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 cup fresh orange juice
1/4 cup dark hoisin sauce
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons ketchup
Coarse salt
1 large head broccoli, about 1 1/3 pounds
8 ounces wide egg noodles
8 ounces sugar snap peas, or snow peas, trimmed
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 pound boneless pork loin or tenderloin, sliced 1/2 inch thick, each slice cut into 1/2-inch-wide strips
3 tablespoons cornstarch

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, stir together orange juice, hoisin sauce, vinegar, ketchup, and 3/4 teaspoon salt; set sauce aside. Cut off tops 1 to 2 inches below florets. Trim broccoli and discard tough ends of stalks, then peel and thinly slice crosswise. Separate broccoli heads into florets.

  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Dredge pork in cornstarch, shaking off excess. Saute pork until lightly browned and cooked through, tossing frequently, about 3 minutes. Pour in reserved sauce, and bring to a boil. Add to bowl with noodles; toss to combine.

Provided by Lucy Netherton

Categories     Main course

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 tbsp low-salt soy sauce
2 tbsp reduced salt and sugar ketchup
2 tbsp clear honey
1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
500g piece pork tenderloin , visible fat trimmed
140g medium egg noodle
2 tsp sesame oil
175g pack baby sweetcorn & sugar snap peas, halved lengthways
320g pack mixed pepper stir-fry vegetable
small bunch spring onion , sliced

  • Meanwhile, soak the noodles in boiling water until soft. Drain, reserving about 50ml of the water. Heat the sesame oil in a wok or large frying pan, add the corn and sugar snap peas, and stir-fry for 3 mins, adding the water to help the veg steam.
  • Add the stir-fry veg and half the spring onions, and cook for 3 mins more until wilted. Tip in the noodles and the rest of the sauce. Using tongs, mix everything to combine. Remove the pork, cut into slices and serve on top of the noodles. Scatter with remaining spring onions.
