Every time we have a party I'm requested to make this dish. Wonderful mixture of pasta, bacon, mushrooms, and onions.

1 (16 ounce) package rotelle pasta
½ pound bacon, chopped
2 onions, chopped
½ pound mushrooms, quartered
1 tablespoon butter
1 (16 ounce) can sauerkraut - rinsed and drained
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Stir in onions, and cook until translucent. In a separate pan, saute the mushrooms in butter.
  • In a large bowl, combine pasta, bacon, onion, mushrooms, sauerkraut and condensed soup. Season with salt and pepper. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes.

1 tablespoon baking powder
½ cup white sugar
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup milk
2 cups brown sugar
1 ½ cups hot water
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Whisk the flour and baking powder together in a small bowl.
  • Beat the white sugar, oil, and egg together in a bowl until smooth. Stir in the flour mixture alternately with the milk. Pour into a 9-inch square pan. Dissolve the brown sugar in the hot water, then pour stir in the melted butter. Drizzle the syrup over the pudding.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the pudding firms and becomes golden brown on top, about 40 minutes.

12 lasagna noodles
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 onions, finely chopped (about 3 cups)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
6 cups warm seasoned mashed potatoes, store-bought or homemade

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter. Add salt to onions and saute 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned; reserve 1/2 cup sautéed onions for topping. Add remaining onions, the pepper, and cheese to mashed potatoes; mix well.
  • Place 3 noodles on bottom of baking dish. Spread 1/3 of potato mixture over noodles. Repeat layers until a total of 4 layers of noodles and 3 layers of potato mixture have been placed (with a layer of noodles on top). Top with reserved sautéed onions.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until heated through.

  • In a large skillet sauté mushrooms and onions in ½ stick of butter until tender.

9 -12 lasagna noodles
1 1/4 cups butter (no substitutes!)
4 medium onions, sliced
10 -12 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 dash salt and black pepper
1 (1 lb) box Velveeta cheese, cubed
grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Saute onion in 1 stick butter until tender.
  • Cook noodles as directed on box.
  • Boil potatoes, then mash.
  • Add cubed cheese, salt, pepper, and remaining butter to potatoes and mix until well combined.
  • Put layer of noodles in 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Layer 1/3 of sauteed onions over noodles, then 1/3 of potato mixture.

Loaded with bacon, onions, potatoes and cheese, this lazy pierogi casserole is the tastiest thing next to a real pierogi!

9 uncooked lasagna noodles (normal NOT no boiled noodles)
8 medium baking potatoes peeled and cut into 1 inch chunks
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup of butter
2 cup shredded old Cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
3 onions chopped
1 tablespoon butter
2 cups low fat ricotta cheese
1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1 pound bacon

Steps:

  • Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain, rinse under cold water and set aside.
  • Grease the inside of a large crockpot.
  • Peel and dice the potatoes. Place in a large pot of water, bring to a boil and then cook until they fall apart when pierced with a fork.
  • Drain the potatoes and place in a large bowl.
  • Mash in the butter, salt, pepper and milk, and continue mashing the potatoes until smooth. Mix in the shredded Cheddar cheese
  • Stir 1/2 tsp onion salt into the ricotta cheese and set aside.
  • Place the bacon on a large foil lined cookie sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes, until cooked but still soft (or cook in a pan on the stovetop).
  • Slice the three onions and fry in a pan with the tablespoon of butter until soft.
  • Cut the bacon with kitchen shears or cut it into smaller pieces with a knife.
  • Place 3 lasagna noodles onto the bottom of the crockpot.
  • Spread one cup of ricotta cheese on top of the noodles.
  • Spread 1/3 of the potato cheese mixture on top of the ricotta.
  • Spread one third of the bacon and one third of the onions on top of the potatoes.
  • Place another three noodles on top and repeat layer.
  • For the last layer, place the final three noodles on top, then potatoes and then bacon and onions, no ricotta cheese.
  • Cook in the crockpot on low for 2 hours.

16 oz pkg egg noodles, cooked in salted water 8 mins,drain
6-8 cups instant mashed potatoes, prepared according to box directions
2 large yellow onions, peeled and sliced 1/8" thick
15 slices yellow american cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 1/2 stick margarine or butter

Steps:

  • 1. Cook egg noodles according to package directions for 8 mins. Drain. Return noodles back to saucepan. Add 1/2 sick margarine and stir. Set aside.
  • 2. In in microwave safe bowl add 1 stick of margarine and the sliced onions. Microwave on 60% power for 3-4 mins until onions are translucent. Add to noodles, stir. Pour noodles and onion mixture in the bottom of a large glass or metal 9x13" cake pan.
  • 3. Make 6-8 cups of instant mashed potatoes according to box directions. Then mix in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese into prepared instant potatoes. Immediately poor potatoe/cheese mixture over the noodle/onion layer. Smooth out to cover all noodles.
  • 4. Place yellow American cheese slices 3 rows across and 5 rows down. You should have enough cheese cover the whole top.
  • 5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake till warmed through and cheese is melted. 20-30 mins Enjoy!
