Easy Homemade Pizza Dough image

This pizza dough produces a very nice pizza crust--flavorful, tender, with just the right amount of chewiness.

Provided by Chef John

Categories     Bread     Pizza Dough and Crust Recipes

Time 18h35m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 8

¼ cup whole wheat flour
3 cups all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
1 ¼ teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon white sugar
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 ½ cups warm water (100 degrees F or 38 degrees C)
all-purpose flour, for dusting

Steps:

  • Stir whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, yeast, salt, sugar, olive oil, and warm water with a spatula until formed into a sticky ball of dough that pulls away from sides of a large bowl, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Cover the bowl with a light cloth or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place (80 to 95 degrees F (27 to 35 degrees C)) for 18 hours, until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 550 degrees F (280 degrees C). Sprinkle a baking sheet with cornmeal.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and sprinkle with more flour. Form the dough into a rectangle, and cut it into four equal parts. Shape each piece into a ball, stretching and tucking the dough to create a smooth surface, adding more flour if needed. Cover the dough balls with a towel and let rest for 15 minutes.
  • To shape the dough, sprinkle the surface with flour and lightly pat flat. Use a rolling pin to form a thin disk about 9 inches in diameter.
  • Transfer the formed crust to the prepared baking sheet and top as desired. Bake on the bottom rack for 4 minutes, move to the middle rack and bake for 5-6 minutes more minutes, until the bottom is crispy and the top is lightly browned. Move to cooling rack to cool slightly before serving.

PIZZA DOUGH

Pizza Dough image

For your next pizza night at home, make Bobby Flay's homemade Pizza Dough recipe from Food Network, and finish it with your favorite toppings.

Provided by Bobby Flay

Time 1h30m

Yield 2 (14-inch) pizza crusts

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 1/2 to 4 cups bread flour, plus more for rolling
1 teaspoon sugar
1 envelope instant dry yeast
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 1/2 cups water, 110 degrees F
2 tablespoons olive oil, plus 2 teaspoons

Steps:

  • Combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and combine. While the mixer is running, add the water and 2 tablespoons of the oil and beat until the dough forms into a ball. If the dough is sticky, add additional flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together in a solid ball. If the dough is too dry, add additional water, 1 tablespoon at a time. Scrape the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead into a smooth, firm ball.
  • Grease a large bowl with the remaining 2 teaspoons olive oil, add the dough, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it in a warm area to let it double in size, about 1 hour. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 2 equal pieces. Cover each with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let them rest for 10 minutes.

SUPER FAST AND EASY PIZZA DOUGH/ CRUST

Super Fast and Easy Pizza Dough/ Crust image

A recipe from Fleischmann's. Always good. You can substitute 1 cup of whole wheat flour for one cup of the white flour. You can add in some parmesan cheese if you'd like. Or, you can replace 1/2 cup of cornmeal for 1/2 cup of the flour. Have fun experimenting.

QUICK AND EASY PIZZA CRUST

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust image

This is a great recipe when you don't want to wait for the dough to rise. You just mix it and allow it to rest for 5 minutes and then it's ready to go!! It yields a soft, chewy crust. For a real treat, I recommend you use bread flour and bake it on a pizza stone, but all-purpose flour works well too. Enjoy!

EASIEST EVER PIZZA DOUGH

Easiest Ever Pizza Dough image

This is so easy to make -- no long rising times and all in one bowl! And, if you don't feel like pizza, try just brushing the dough with olive oil, and topping with olives, parmesan cheese and rosemary to make foccacia bread. I have also topped it with a mixture of oil, finely chopped fresh herbs (parsley, basil, oregano) and garlic paste.

Time 40m

Yield 3-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 cups flour
1 1/4 cups warm water
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon fast rising yeast
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Throw all ingredients into a bowl and mix together with a food processor (using dough hooks) or by hand.
  • The dough will be fairly sticky but don't add any more flour.
  • Instead scrape it into an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth and leave to rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size. I like to let my dough rise in an ever-so-slightly warmed oven or in an airing cupboard.
  • When dough is finished rising, pre-heat oven to 400 F degrees.
  • Turn onto a floured surface and work in a bit more flour until the dough loses its stickiness -- you shouldn't need too much -- then roll out to desired size, keeping the dough about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Leave to rise for about 10 minutes, before topping with your favourite ingredients.
  • Put on a baking sheet sprinkled with flour or cornmeal and bake for 10-15 minutes in a very hot oven until lightly browned. Our standard is 230-240 C in a fan oven for 10 minutes on a top shelf.

PIZZA DOUGH - SUPER EASY TO MAKE

Pizza Dough - Super Easy to Make image

This pizza dough is so quick and easy to make. Just add your favourite topping once you have finished the process. Enjoy the results from making your very own super healthy pizza!

Provided by ozzygirl

Categories     Yeast Breads

Time 30m

Yield 1 pizza base, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups flour, sifted
1 (7 g) sachet dry active yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Combine flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl.
  • Stir in combined water and half of oil. Stir with a wooden spoon until dough becomes too firm to stir. Using hands, continue working to make a ball of dough then turn dough out onto a floured surface.
  • Knead dough with hands until smooth and elastic. Alternatively use an electric mixer with a dough hook and knead on low speed for 3 minutes.
  • Coat a large bowl with remaining oil and add dough, turning to grease all over. Cover with gladwrap and a clean tea-towel. Leave in a warm place for 1 hour, until mixture has doubled in size.
  • Turn out to a lightly floured surface, knock down and knead very lightly. To help stretch out the dough the traditional way is hold up the slightly patted out round with both hands and let the dough fall away from hands, stretching it out in the process.
  • Place on trays or pans and gently press, pat and push dough outwards until it reaches the edges, forming a thick rim on the outside.
  • Add topping and bake in a hot oven at 200 degrees celcius!
  • (Note: Depending on your topping, I found the pizza cooks in approximately 20 minutes.).
