1 head green cabbage, finely shredded
2 large carrots, finely shredded
3/4 cup best-quality mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sour cream
2 tablespoons grated Spanish onion
2 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 tablespoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons celery salt
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Combine the shredded cabbage and carrots in a large bowl. Whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, onion, sugar, vinegar, mustard, celery salt, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl, and then add to the cabbage mixture. Mix well to combine and taste for seasoning; add more salt, pepper, or sugar if desired.

Found posted on allrecipes.com by Christina J. I've been told this is the closest copycat recipe for Primanti Bro's cole slaw. Fingers crossed. I plan on making it today for a BBQ. Cooking time includes minimum refrigeration time. It was recommended that slaw be refrigerated overnight and served with a slotted spoon to drain excess dressing.

2 (16 ounce) bags cabbage coleslaw blend
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
3/4 cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, toss together the cabbage, onion, and 3/4 cup sugar.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, salt, celery seed, 1 teaspoon white sugar, mustard and oil.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Cook for 3 minutes.
  • Cool completely, then pour over cabbage mixture.
  • Toss to coat.
  • Refrigerate 8-24 hours for best flavor.
  • Toss again prior to serving.

1 cup thinly sliced red bell peppers
1/2 cup thinly shredded cabbage
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1/4 cup diced red onions

  • Preheat the grill to medium heat.
  • Toss the peaches in some oil and grill until charred, about 2 minutes per side.

  • In a small mixing bowl using a whisk, mix together the yogurt, vinegar, tarragon salt and pepper.
  • In a large bowl add the shredded cabbages and carrot and mix thoroughly.

3 tablespoons small capers, drained,rinsed and minced
1 1/2 teaspoons white wine vinegar or 1 1/2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
1/2 cup low-fat buttermilk
salt & freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil, plus
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2 ears corn
2 tomatoes
2 romaine lettuce hearts
3 medium Belgian endive
4 -5 strips bacon, cooked until crisp and cut into 1/4 inch dice
garlic-flavored croutons (recipe in 'zaar)
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Creamy Caper Dressing: Whisk together the capers, vinegar, buttermilk, salt and pepper.
  • Then whisk in the oil in a steady stream to emulsify.
  • Salad: Prepare a large bowl of ice water.
  • STeam the corn until tender, about 3 to 6 minutes, depending on the ripeness, immediately plunge the corn into the ice water, and remove as soon as it's cooled.
  • Using a large sharp knife, cut the corn from the cob, being sure to catch any juice.
  • Cut the tomatoes in half width wise, then scoop out the seeds with your fingers.
  • Cut into 1/4 inch dice.
  • Peel off the outer dark green leaves from the romaine and cut off 3 inches from the tip.
  • Cut inner leaves into 1/2 inch ribbons, then wash and dry thoroughly.
  • Remove any brown outer leaves from the endive, then cut leaves into 1/2 inch ribbons.
  • Combine the corn, tomatoes, romaine, endive, bacon and croutons in a large bowl.
  • Toss with the dressing to distibute evenly.
  • Add salt and pepper as you toss, until the capery flavour of the dressing comes through on the leaves.

minute chinese noodles, broken up (keep the spice package for dressing)
1/2 cup chopped almonds
1/2 cup shelled sunflower seeds
1/4 cup vegetable oil or 1/4 cup olive oil
2/3 cup rice vinegar (white will do also)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 clove chopped garlic
1 teaspoon chili oil or 1 teaspoon wasabi
1/2 teaspoon ginger

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine all ingredients for salad except noodles.
  • Stir well to combine.
  • In another bowl, add all ingredients for dressing, including reserved spice package from noodles, mixing well till sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour the dressing over the slaw, toss to coat well.
  • Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Add noodles just before serving.

4 cups peaches, peeled, sliced
2 cups sugar, divided
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice (or mace or cloves)
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Place peaches in bowl, add 1 cup sugar. Stir and set aside for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, sift all dry ingredients together in another bowl.
  • In separate bowl, add vanilla to milk. Stir dry ingredients into milk mixture.
  • Melt butter and add to milk/flour mixture. Place peach/sugar mixture in 11"x 8" baking dish. Pour batter over top.
  • Bake at 350*F. 30 minutes. Then turn up to 400*F. and bake another 15 minutes.
  • Enjoy!

1 large piece fresh gingerroot (about 3 inches), peeled and coarsely chopped
COCKTAIL:
1/4 cup orange liqueur
2 medium ripe peaches, peeled and halved
1 bottle (750 milliliters) white wine, chilled
Ice cubes
1 to 1-1/2 cups chilled ginger ale
Fresh mint leaves and peach slices, optional

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water and ginger; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes. Cool completely. Pour syrup through a strainer into a covered container; discard ginger., Place liqueur and 1/4 cup ginger syrup in a blender. (Cover and refrigerate remaining syrup for another use.) Add peaches; cover and process until smooth., Transfer mixture to a 2-qt. pitcher; stir in wine. Serve over ice, topping with ginger ale. If desired, serve with mint and peach slices.
