Shrimp Salad image

This salad- creamy in texture with crunchy bits of celery and plump shrimp- is tastier than its cousins, tuna and chicken salad, but can be served up in the same ways: on crackers, in a croissant or rolled in lettuce bowls. Think quick lunch or light supper.

1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup chopped celery
1 1/2 tsps old bay seasoning
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 pound medium shrimp peeled, deveined and cooked
your favorite lettuce (optional)
croissant or sandwich roll (optional)

Steps:

  • Cook shrimp: In a medium saucepan bring 1 cup water to boil. Add unpeeled shrimp. Cover. Cook about 5 minutes or until shrimp are pink. Drain. Cool shrimp. Remove shells and devein.In a large bowl mix first 4 ingredients. Add shrimp. Toss to coat then cover. Refrigerate 30 minutes or until ready to serve.Stir before serving on a bed of lettuce or in a croissant/sandwich roll. Tomato-lovers try it stuffed in a fresh tomato.

This recipe is easy to make and great to eat so many different ways. Perfect in the Summer time with a great glass of Iced Tea.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/2-2 lbs fresh shrimp
2 teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning (or add more for hotter taste)
1/4 tablespoon black pepper
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
mayonnaise (enough for Tuna Fish consistency)

Steps:

  • Steam the Shrimp sprinkled with Old Bay (Do not boil them) Vegetable steamer works well.
  • set aside and let cool.
  • Remove shells from shrimp and cut into 3 pieces for each shrimp.
  • Add all other ingrediates and chill for at least 1 hour to let the flavors mix together.
  • Serve on Bread or toast.
  • Serve on Crackers or Stuff into a fresh tomato or just on a Salad.

This is an old recipe used by many of the seafood restaurants in Florida for Old Bay® fried shrimp. Excellent for fish, shrimp, scallops!

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 large eggs, or more as needed
2 cups milk, or more as needed
peanut oil for frying
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups yellow cornmeal
½ cup seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®)

Steps:

  • Place each shrimp on a flat work surface and butterfly by slicing horizontally through the middle, being careful not to cut all the way through to the other side.
  • Whisk eggs in a bowl; mix in milk. Place shrimp in milk mixture and soak for 1 hour.
  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix flour, cornmeal, and seafood seasoning together and pour into a zip-top bag. Place 5 to 6 shrimp in the bag and shake well.
  • Drop shrimp in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and opaque in the centers, about 5 minutes. Remove and place on paper towels to soak out oil. Repeat with remaining shrimp.
