OLD BAY® SHRIMP AND PASTA ALFREDO

Old Bay® Shrimp and Pasta Alfredo image

This recipe came from my Italian family. It is not only delicious but so quick and easy. Measurements really aren't necessary--make it your own. You can't go wrong with too much seasoning or too little. Go easy on the lemon is my only recommendation. Unless you love lemon! Adding Parmesan cheese is really delish and the Alfredo sauce gives it a nice hot and creamy texture.

Time 30m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 8

½ cup olive oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped, or to taste
1 pound jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 tablespoons seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®)
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
1 (16 ounce) package angel hair pasta
½ cup Alfredo sauce, or as needed
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over low heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add shrimp and sprinkle with seafood seasoning; toss until completely coated. Stir in red pepper flakes and cook until shrimp are bright pink on the outside and the meat is opaque, 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook angel hair pasta in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, 4 to 5 minutes. Drain pasta.
  • Add pasta to the skillet and toss with shrimp and olive oil to combine. Stir in Alfredo sauce and drizzle with lemon juice.

OLD BAY SHRIMP PASTA

Old Bay Shrimp Pasta image

Delicious Old Bay Shrimp Pasta with lots of flavors and simple ingredients.

Provided by Mila Clarke Buckley

Categories     Pasta

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 9

12 Shrimp (8 oz of jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined)
160g of Pappardelle pasta
2 teaspoons of old bay seasoning
Juice of one whole lemon
1/4 cup of heavy cream
4 tablespoons of butter
2 cloves of garlic (minced)
Salt
Garnish: chopped parsley

Steps:

  • You'll need two pans - a skillet for making your shrimp and sauce and a pot for boiling water.
  • Start by filling your pot with water and salting it (you want it to be murky like sea salt).
  • Put it on your stove, on high and bring it to a rolling boil.
  • While that comes up to a boil, prep your shrimp, by peeling and deveining them.
  • Next add butter, lemon juice, old bay seasoning, and garlic to your pan, letting it simmer on medium-high heat.
  • Next add your cream, and let it simmer a little longer.
  • Check your water, if it's boiling, you'll want to drop in your pasta and cook according to the package directions.
  • When your pasta is almost done cooking, drop your shrimp into the old bay lemon butter sauce.
  • Cook your shrimp through (2-3 minutes on each side).
  • Then, drop your pasta in with the lemon butter pasta sauce and shrimp, and give it a toss.
  • Sprinkle with parsley and serve!

This delicious creamy pasta and shrimp dish is impressive enough to serve to company, and goes together quickly and easily for a busy weeknight meal. I sometimes add a tossed green salad and a crusty French bread, to round out the meal. Enjoy! Feel free to adjust seasoning to your taste. Adapted from Oldbay.com.

Categories     Cheese

Time 30m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

16 ounces pasta (I used bow ties)
1/2 cup frozen peas
2 tablespoons butter
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 1/2 tablespoons Old Bay Seasoning, divided (low sodium kind if you can find it)
2 cups half-and-half
1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated
2 green onions, sliced thinly

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to directions on package. During the last minute of cooking add the peas. Drain and reserve 1/4 cup of the cooking liquid.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the shrimp and sprinkle with 1/2 tablespoon of Old Bay. Cook for 3 minutes or until they start to turn pink. Reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Stir in the half-and-half, reserved cooking liquid, Parmesan cheese and the rest of the Old Bay. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the sauce begins to thicken. Remove from heat and add the pasta, peas and green onion. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving (this gives the sauce a few more minutes to thicken).
  • Serve with extra grated Parmesan cheese.
