Steps:

  • Mix the oil, soy sauce, Worcestershire, pineapple juice, granulated garlic, pepper and dry mustard in a bowl. Use to marinate steaks overnight or for 10 hours in the refrigerator. Makes enough marinade for 4 steaks.

1 1/2 pound flank steak
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
Ground black pepper
1 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Trim steak of excess fat. Rub steak with garlic and pepper. Place steak into a glass baking dish and pour vinegar over steak. Marinate steak for 20-30 minutes, turning the steak every 10 minutes. Remove steak from marinade and pat dry with paper towel.
  • Grill or broil steak to desired degree of doneness. Pour marinade into a saucepan and simmer over medium high heat until the liquid is syrupy. Add 2 tablespoons cold butter to syrup and swirl to melt butter. Slice steak across the grain in thin slices and serve with balsamic sauce

1 flank steak, about 11/2 pounds
1/3 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon sugar
Freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Poke the steak all over with the tines of a fork; cut in half, against the grain, to make 2 steaks (1steak may be slightly thicker). In a non-reactive bowl or large re-sealable plastic bag, combine the soy sauce, Worcestershire, vinegar, oil, garlic, sugar, and pepper, to taste. Add the steak, and turn to coat. Cover or reseal the bag and marinate at room temperature for 1 hour or refrigerate for up to 6 hours.
  • Remove the steak from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Position the rack in the top position in the oven and preheat the broiler. Remove the steaks from the marinade and pat dry. Cook the steaks, for 5 to 8 minutes on each side for rare to medium-rare. Set aside on a cutting board for 5 minutes.
  • Cut the steak against the grain, on an angle, into very thin slices. Arrange the slices on a warmed platter or plates. Serve.

Steps:

  • Lay steaks on a flat surface. Lightly sprinkle dry ingredients onto the surface of each steak until the steak is completely covered. Rub dry ingredients into the steak by hand. Lightly pour cooking oil onto steak and rub into steak with hands. Flip steaks over and repeat the same process on the other side. Place steaks in an airtight container and refrigerate. Let steaks marinate in rub no more than 4 hours. To grill, heat charcoal grill to approximately 300 degrees F. Grill steak 7 to 8 minutes on each side. When grilled to preferred doneness, place steaks in a pan and cover with foil to allow the juices to distribute.

1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon instant minced garlic (optional)
