1 cup plain yogurt
1 cup sour cream
3 cucumbers, seeded and chopped
1 tomato, seeded and chopped
1 teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon paprika
4 cloves crushed garlic
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a salad bowl, whisk together the yogurt, sour cream, cumin, paprika and garlic.
  • Add cucumbers and tomatoes; toss and chill before serving.

I love this and I'll be your best friend if you can make this for me when the chips are low:) Preparation time does not include refrigeration time.

1 tablespoon butter
1/4 onion, finely chopped
1 cup potato, boiled and cubed
salt
1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
2 cups yogurt, beaten till smooth
1/2 tomatoes, finely chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Heat butter in a pan.
  • Add the chopped onions and cubed potatoes.
  • Saute for 2 minutes.
  • Remove on absorbent paper.
  • Pour the yogurt in a bowl.
  • Add salt, red chilli powder and kasoori methi to it.
  • Mix well.
  • Add the sauteed onions and potatoes, green chillies and tomatoes.
  • Mix well.
  • Refrigerate until it's time to serve.
  • Serve garnished with finely chopped corriander leaves.

Anardana or pomegranate seeds are something I just love cracking between my teeth and singing the famous song from the Bollywood movie, Heena, that starts like this, "Nar dana...anar dana...asa runi topi wale nal jana"...hehe...did you quite get the tune?!? It means, "O pomegranate seeds, I want to get married to the guy with the pretty cap!" hehehehe...One of my favourite songs and I love the way its done in the movie...very romantic;)

1/2 cup fresh pomegranate seeds (anar)
1 cup yogurt, beaten till smooth
1 tablespoon thinly sliced almonds
1 tablespoon mint leaf, finely chopped
salt and pepper
1 teaspoon pomegranate seeds
3 -5 mint leaves, to garnish
3 -5 almonds, to garnish

Steps:

  • Remove seeds from the fresh pomegranate.
  • Refrigerate.
  • Mix the yogurt with the seeds in a bowl.
  • Add in almonds and mint leaves.
  • Mix well.
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Add salt and pepper before serving.
  • Garnish with pomegranate seeds, mint leaves and almonds before serving.
  • Serve with a spicy curry and rice.
