MUSHROOM AND SWISS BURGER CASSEROLE RECIPE

This reminds me of the taste of Hamburger Helper, but much healthier of course!

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tbsp Olive oil
2 tbsp Butter (salted)
1 package sliced (8 oz) White mushrooms (sliced (8 oz) White mushrooms)
1 medium Yellow onion (diced)
3 clove Garlic- minced
454 gm Ground Beef ((or other ground meat))
1/2 cup Heavy whipping cream (38% M.F.)
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp Oregano (dried)
1/4 tsp Parsley (dried)
1/4 tsp Salt and pepper (or to taste)
2 cup diced or shredded Swiss cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place a pan over medium/high heat and add a little butter and oil.
  • When the pan is hot, add the mushrooms and onion. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the garlic, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  • Add the heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and let simmer a couple of minutes.
  • Add the beef mixture to a greased, 9x13, baking dish. Stir everything together. Top with shredded Swiss cheese and bake for 30 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned on top.

1 lb ground beef
8oz button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup of diced onion
1/2 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup (2oz) Swiss cheese
1/4 bag (about 1/2 lb) frozen tater tots

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425F and lightly grease a 9x9-in baking pan or 1-1/2 quart casserole dish.
  • In a large frying pan, brown the ground beef and onion, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and saute until softened. Drain excess oil, if necessary.
  • Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, black pepper and garlic powder. Cook until bubbly, about 2 minutes, then stir in the cheese.
  • Transfer meat to prepared casserole dish and top with an even layer of tater tots. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until tots are cooked and golden.

1 1/4 pounds ground beef (preferably chuck)
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing
1 small red onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 8-ounce package sliced mixed mushrooms
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons dijon mustard
4 thin slices gruyere cheese
4 sesame buns, split and toasted
Boston or Bibb lettuce, for topping
Potato chips and/or pickles, for serving (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat the broiler and line the bottom of a broiler pan with foil. Lightly mix the beef with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a large bowl. Gently form into 4 patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Arrange on the prepared pan and brush both sides with olive oil. Broil until browned, about 4 minutes per side for medium rare.
  • Meanwhile, heat 2 teaspoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, 2 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook 2 more minutes. Add the Worcestershire sauce and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 2 more minutes. Season with salt and pepper and remove from the heat. Combine the ketchup and mustard in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Top each patty with one-quarter of the mushroom mixture and 1 slice cheese. Return to the broiler to melt the cheese, about 1 minute.
  • Spread the buns with the ketchup mixture; sandwich with the patties and some lettuce. Serve with chips and/or pickles.

1 24 oz Bag of Mini Potato Dumplings*
8 oz bag of Baby Portobello Mushrooms, sliced
1 Onion, diced
6 Cloves of Garlic, minced
1 c Heavy Whipping Cream
1/4 c Worcestershire Sauce
2 c Swiss Cheese, shredded
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
Salt and Pepper, to taste
2 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Oil
1 15 oz can of Cream of Mushroom Soup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cook dumplings according to the directions on the packaging. **
  • Place a pan over medium/high heat and add a little butter and oil.
  • When the pan is hot, add the mushrooms and onion. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the garlic and Italian Seasoning. Cook for 1-2 minutes until you smell the garlic coming up from the pan.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until brown and no longer pink.
  • Add the cream of mushroom soup, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and let simmer a couple of minutes.
  • Add the beef mixture and the dumplings to a greased, 9x13, baking dish. Stir everything together. Top with shredded Swiss cheese, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and place under broiler for a few minutes to get bubbly and brown.
  • Serve and Enjoy!

8 ounces sauerkraut
8 ounces mushrooms
1 cup mozzarella cheese
