Moms Hot Dog Chili Food

HOT DOG CHILI

Steps:

• Cook ground beef and onion in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until meat is no longer pink and onion is soft (about 7-10 minutes). Use a wooden spoon to break up the meat into very small pieces as it cooks. Add minced garlic and continuing cooking and stirring for 1 more minute.
• Add water, tomato sauce, ketchup, paprika, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and pepper.
• Bring to boil; reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 25-30 minutes (or until chili thickens slightly).

CHIPOTLE CHILI CHEESE DOGS

Steps:

• Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until slightly crisp, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the onion, chili powder and cumin and cook until the onion is soft, about 3 minutes. Stir in the ketchup and cook until it is slightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the beans, tomatoes, hot sauce and 1 cup water, cover and bring to a boil. Uncover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens, about 20 minutes.
• Meanwhile, preheat a grill to medium and brush with vegetable oil. Grill the hot dogs until marked, turning, about 10 minutes. Toast the rolls on the grill, if desired.
• Sprinkle the inside of each roll with cheese, then add a hot dog, some of the bean mixture and more cheese. Top with scallions, sour cream and/or hot sauce, if desired.

HOMEMADE HOT DOG CHILI

Steps:

• Brown ground beef in a large saucepan over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain thoroughly.
• Stir in tomato paste, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard.
• Add brown sugar, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
• Add ½ cup water and simmer for about 20 minutes.

AWESOME HOT DOG CHILI SAUCE

Steps:

• Put all ingredients in pan.
• Do not cook hamburger first.
• Cook all at the same time.
• it makes for a smoother sauce.
• Cook down for 10 to 15 minutes until thickened.
• I enjoy mine with yellow mustard and onions.

HOT DOG CHILI

Steps:

• Place ground beef in sauce pot over Medium heat.
• Crumble the beef as it begins to cook.
• Cook beef until browned. Drain and discard any grease.
• Add the water.
• Add the salt.
• Add the black pepper.
• Add the chili powder
• Add ketchup.
• Stir and let simmer for about 20 minutes.
• Add sugar.
• Add vinegar.
• Stir again and let cook until chili reaches desired thickness.
• Enjoy!

MOM'S HOMEMADE HOT DOG CHILI -OR- SLOPPY JOES!

Steps:

• Brown hamburger-drain fat.
• add remaining ingredients to beef and simmer until heated through.
• Serve over hot dogs, along with cole slaw and mustard for a traditional North Carolinian hot dog OR, you can serve on hamburger buns for a killer Sloppy Joe!
• Serving size depends on which option you choose.
• 10+ hot dog servings, or 4 moderate Sloppy Joes.
• For cookouts and picnics, recipe can easily double!

HOT DOG CHILI

Steps:

• Brown ground beef with minced onion; drain.
• In a medium sized cooker add ketchup, onion soup mix, brown sugar, mustard and water.
• Add ground beef and onion to mixture.
• Simmer on low heat for 2 to 3 hours.
• Serve on hot dogs or with corn chips, cheese and sour cream.
• Enjoy!

HOMEMADE HOT DOG CHILI (+VIDEO)

Steps:

• Put a couple tablespoons of vegetable oil in medium sauce pan.
• On medium-high heat, saute onion until translucent, then add garlic.
• Stir for about a minute, then add ground beef.
• As beef begins to brown, use a potato masher to grind up the beef into small bits.
• Once brown, add in the rest of the ingredients (if your beef produced a lot of grease, you may want to strain some of that out first before adding the rest of the ingredients).
• Give it all a good stir to combine then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
• Do a taste test at this point to see if it has enough salt.

MOM'S SPICY HOT DOG SAUCE (CROCK POT)

Steps:

• Combine all ingredients in your crock pot.
• Allow to cook at least 8 hours on low (in the older Crockpots -- the newer ones sometimes seem to cook too high). I usually cook mine overnight, then even allow it to cook part of the day before turning it to warm.
• ***It can also be cooked on the stove, if you need it to get done sooner. In this case, you may want to leave the water out.
• Enjoy on hot dogs (or "saucedogs" for my daughter who doesn't like hotdogs, and only eats sauce on a bun LOL) or use as a sloppy joe filling!
• I'm not sure about the serving amount below.

OLD-FASHIONED CHILI DOGS

Steps:

• In a large skillet, combine ground beef and water; cook over high heat 5 to 7 minutes, or until meat is browned, stirring occasionally. Add tomato sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; mix well.
• Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, or until liquid has cooked down, stirring occasionally.
• Cook hot dogs in a pot of boiling water 3 to 5 minutes, or until heated through. Place in rolls and top with chili sauce. Sprinkle with onion and Cheddar cheese, and serve immediately.

HOT DOG CHILI

Steps:

• Cook ground beef in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring until beef crumbles and is no longer pink; drain well. Wipe Dutch oven clean with a paper towel.
• Sauté onion in hot oil in Dutch oven 5 minutes. Add salt, chili powder, and beef, and cook 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in 2 1/4 cups water and next 5 ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 45 minutes or until most of the liquid evaporates.

MOM'S HOT DOG CHILI

Steps:

• 1. Mix all ingredients in a large sauce pan. Cook over slow heat (medium low) for 45 minutes. Serve while hot.
