MICROWAVE ICED TEA

Microwave Iced Tea image

My tea kettle broke, so I figured out how to make iced tea in the microwave, which isn't difficult to do, but I thought someone else might like to know how. I like to use 4 green tea bags, a lemonade crystal light, and add 1/8 cup of honey - it tastes almost like the Arizona green tea with ginseng.

Provided by Random Rachel

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 1 gallon tea

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 gallon water (divided)
6 tea bags
1 cup sugar, to taste (or peach, or raspberry) or 1 (1/4 ounce) container sugar-free lemonade-flavored drink mix (or peach, or raspberry)

Steps:

  • Pour 2 cups of water into a 2 cup microwave safe glass measure. Microwave on high for 4 minutes. (It should just come to a boil.).
  • Add teabags, dunk a few times, and let steep 15+ minutes, to your tastes.
  • Pour into gallon sized pitcher, add remaining water, and ice if desired.
  • Chill and drink :-).
  • NOTE: If you use bottled water it will super heat and could come to a boil suddenly when you add the teabags, so use caution.

MICROWAVE ICED TEA

Microwave Iced Tea image

If you're an iced tea aficionado, you'll want it fresh every day. Here's a quick and easy way to make a small, daily amount. To make more, just add a few additional tea bags, then dilute it to taste after it has steeped.

Provided by Finite Foodie

Categories     Beverages

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 2

2 cups water
2 (or 3) tea bags

Steps:

  • Pour water into a microwave-safe, 2-cup liquid measuring cup.
  • Heat in the microwave on high for 1 minute, then add tea bags. (Make sure they are submerged in the water.)
  • Heat again on high for 2 minutes. The water will be very hot, so leave it in the microwave to steep 2 to 10 minutes, depending on the type of tea and your taste preference.
  • Remove tea bags. Add 2 or 3 ice cubes to cool the tea more quickly if desired.
  • Transfer to a glass jar or pitcher, then add more water to dilute, to taste.
  • Store tea in refrigerator, and drink within 24 to 48 hours for best flavor.

MICROWAVE SWEET TEA

Microwave Sweet Tea image

Making tea on the stove is easy enough but even easier in the microwave, so why not? I have a strainer that is the perfect size to fit in the top of my gallon pitcher so that it makes it a snap to strain the tea bags over the sugar without worrying about busting the bags. Adding a slice of lemon to my glass of iced tea adds the perfect touch.

  • Place the potato on a paper towel and microwave it on high for 3 minutes. Turn it to the other side and microwave for 2 more minutes, or until fork-tender.
  • I like to simply slice the cooked potato and enjoy its natural sweetness - I don't even sprinkle it with salt, as I find the saltiness detracts from its natural flavor. But obviously, you can cut it in half, sprinkle it with salt and pepper, and top it with a little butter.

MICROWAVE RECIPES: 34 SURPRISINGLY DELICIOUS MEALS AND SNACKS

From greatist.com
  • Strawberry microwave breakfast bowl. Buckwheat groats there are a terrific source of complete protein and a great substitute for plain old oatmeal. This gluten-free breakfast combines oats, flax meal, and applesauce with fiber-rich buckwheat for a delicious and healthful dish.
  • Crispy microwave bacon. This method doesn’t use paper towels. The secret to crispy bacon is heating the slices on top of an overturned bowl on a saucer so the rendered fat drips down the sides of the bowl.
  • 10-minute cheesy vegetable quiche with cauliflower crust. Instead of a pastry crust, this version uses cauliflower (which also makes an awesome pizza crust).
  • Miracle microwave poached eggs. Ah, poached eggs. We love them, but we’d never make them at home. The traditional method requires boiling water, using just enough salt and vinegar, keeping the water swirling at the right speed, and cracking the egg the right way.
  • Cinnamon-maple breakfast quinoa. This healthy breakfast imbues quinoa with a creamy, cinnamony quality, delivering a protein-packed, high-fiber breakfast that tastes like a pancake in a bowl.
  • Microwaved scrambled eggs. Crack a couple of eggs into a bowl, scramble with a fork, and microwave in 30-second increments until cooked through, stirring each time, until they’re just the way you like ’em.
  • Microwave sweet potato chips. A mandoline (no, not the musical instrument, the slicer) is the key to getting super-thin chips to crisp up in the microwave.
  • Microwave potato chips. Few people would put “crispy” and “microwave” in the same sentence, but crispy nuked potato chips are A Thing, and they use far less oil than a package of Lay’s.
  • Toasted nuts. Toasting nuts releases their oils, giving them that oh-so-fragrant scent. But heating up the whole oven for a pan of nuts isn’t necessary.
  • Amazing homemade microwave popcorn. You don’t need to spend entire dollars on store-bought microwave popcorn. It’s easy, and a lot cheaper, to DIY. Movie night, here we come!
