I grew up with a dessert called Hot Fudge Pudding Cake. It was a package mix. This is the closest to the original recipe I've had. Similar to other brownie cakes listed but less ingredients and microwave cooked. One of my all time favorites.

1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 1/2 cups hot water
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Combine first 4 ingredients in a glass bowl or 4 cup glass measuring cup.
  • Microwave for 4 minutes or until bubbling.
  • Combine cake ingredients in a 8 or 9 inch glass cake pan. Stir until smooth.
  • Pour liquid topping mixture over cake. Microwave for 9-12 minutes until cake rises to top.
  • Serve. Can top with whip cream or ice cream. Love it with vanilla. Enjoy.

1 ounce unsweetened chocolate, (chopped)
3 Tablespoons salted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 (5-ounce) can evaporated milk ((about 2/3 cup))
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Place chocolate and butter in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
  • Stir in the powdered sugar, evaporated milk, and vanilla, then microwave another 3 to 4 minutes until thick and bubbly.

2 tablespoons margarine, melted
1/3 cup cocoa (Hershey's)
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • In a microwave proof bowl, combine margarine, water and cocoa.
  • With wire whisk, blend in condensed milk.
  • Microwave on high 1 minute then whisk to blend.
  • Microwave 1 1/2 minutes more on high. Add vanilla and blend with whisk completely.
  • Serve over your favorite ice cream.
  • Store in 1 pint canning jar, cool and refrigerate.
  • Can be rewarmed in jar (lid removed) in microwave--add a bit of water if it thickens too much.

2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 1/2 cups hot water
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Spray inside of 2- 3 1/2 quart crock with cooking spray.
  • Mix flour, sugar, 2 TBS cocoa, baking powder and salt in medium bowl.
  • Stir in milk, oil and vanilla until smooth.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Spread batter evenly in slow cooker.
  • Mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa in small bowl.
  • Stir in hot water until smooth.
  • Pour evenly over batter in crock.
  • Cover and cook on high 2- 2 1/2 hours or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Turn off crock.
  • Let cake stand uncovered 30- 40 minutes to cool slightly before serving.
  • Spoon warm cake into dessert dishes.
  • Spoon sauce over top.
  • 6 servings.

  • Heat oven to 350.
  • Mix flour,granulted sugar,2 tbsp cocoa baking powder and salt in ungreased square pan,9x9x2.
  • Mix in milk,oil and vanilla with fork until smooth.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Spread in pan.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar and1/4 cup cocoa over batter.
  • Pour water evenly over batter.
  • Bake about 40 minutes or until top is dry.
  • Cool 10 minutes.
  • Spoon into dessert dishes and top with ice cream.

Absolutely sinful recipe I found in a friend's cookbook. It's one my favorite cake recipes. It also works great for birthdays.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 (18 ounce) package duncan hines moist deluxe dark fudge cake mix
1/2 gallon brick vanilla ice cream
1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
1 1/4 cups sugar
4 unsweetened chocolate squares (1 ounce each)
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
whipped cream, for garnish
maraschino cherry, for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F; grease and flour 13x9x2-inch pan. Prepare, bake and cool cake following package directions.
  • Remove cake from pan. split cake in half horizontally. Place bottom layer back in pan. Cut ice cream into even slices and place evenly over bottom cake layer (use all the ice cream). Place remaining cake layer over ice cream. Cover and freeze.
  • For Fudge Sauce: Combine evaporated milk and sugar in medium saucepan. stir constantly on medium heat until mixture comes to a rolling boil. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Add unsweetened chocolate and stir until melted. Beat over medium heat until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in butter, vanilla and salt.
  • Cut cake into serving squares. For each serving, place cake square on plate; spoon hot fudge sauce on top.
  • Garnish with whipped cream and maraschino cherry.
  • TIP: Fudge sauce may be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated in tightly sealed jar. Reheat when ready to serve.

0.5 cups skim milk
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 teaspoons vanilla
0.5 cups pecans
1 cups brown sugar
3.25 cups water
1 units whip

Steps:

  • 1. In an ungreased 3-4 quart microwavable safe dish combine the flour, sugar, 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • 2. Stir in the milk, oil, and vanilla until combined.
  • 3. Fold in nuts.
  • 4. Combine brown sugar, and remaining cocoa powder and sprinkle over batter.
  • 5. Pour boiling water over batter (DO NOT STIR!!).
  • 6. Microwave uncovered on HIGH 9-10 minutes or until top of cake springs back when lightly touched.
  • 7. Serve with a dollop of Cool Whip.

  • Stir 1 tbsp sugar into the butter followed by the vanilla, flour, 1½ tsp of the cocoa powder and milk. Stir until no dry spots remain and smooth into the bottom of the mug.
  • Sprinkle remaining 1 tbsp of sugar, ½ tsp cocoa powder, and brown sugar over the batter. Pour hot water (hot tap water is fine) over the top of the contents in the mug.
  • Set microwave to cook at 50% power and cook for 1½ minutes, checking every 30 seconds to see how it's cooking. All microwaves cook differently so keep a close eye on it. It's done when the middle looks cakey. The "hot fudge' portion of the cake will be both on the top and bottom of the mug and will have the consistency of pudding when done. Serve hot!
