Steps:
- Separate crescent dough into four long rectangles; place dough rectangles crosswise in an ungreased 15x10" baking pan; press dough over bottom and barely up sides of pan to form a crust; press dough perforations to seal.
- Bake crust at 375°for 14 to 19 minutes or until light golden-brown; remove from oven and cool completely.
- Spread beans over crust to within a half-inch of edges; stir together sour cream and taco seasoning mix, and spread this mixture over the beans; sprinkle onions, bell pepper, tomatoes, olives, green chiles, and cheese evenly over sour cream mixture.
- Cover and refrigerate at least 20 minutes; cut into squares; serve with salsa.
- NOTE: I like to spread the salsa evenly over the seasoned sour cream layer (just before sprinkling on the chopped veggies and cheese) rather than serve it on the side.

CHILES RELLENOS SQUARES
My family requests this chiles rellenos dish regularly-it's easy to prepare and makes a nice hors d'oeuvre or complement to a Mexican or Spanish meal. A friend I worked with shared the recipe with me several years ago. -Fran Carll, Long Beach, California

This dish is listed under Brunch recipes in the Edible Heirlooms Cookbook, but it could easily be served as an appetizer. Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds easy and tasty.

CHEESE SQUARES APPETIZER
This is a wonderful baked appetizer blending the tastes of Cheddar cheese and jalapeno peppers. The amount of jalapenos used can easily be adjusted to personal taste, although baking does take a lot of the burn out of the peppers. I've made this several times and I never have leftovers. My husband wishes I would make these for him every day. I don't recommend doubling the recipe; make multiple batches instead.

SPINACH CHEESE SQUARES
I found this in my mother's collection of recipe clippings, from the 1960's. The only change I made was to reduce the salt to one-half teaspoon. You could probably substitute frozen chopped spinach to save time. I think these taste great at room temperature.
