BETTY'S BEER MARGARITA

Betty's Beer Margarita image

Betty was a friend of mine who was around my dads age and was like a mother to me. She used to tell me about this drink and what was in it but I never had them until now because I didn't have her exact recipe. Betty died of lung cancer last February, before I could get her recipe. I found the recipe on "The Food Network" web site and improvised it to suit my taste and named it after Betty. You can add more tequila if you want to. Warning: More than one might sneak up on you because you can't taste the tequila! :)

Provided by AuntWoofieWoof

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 tablespoon kosher salt (approx)
2 tablespoons lime juice or 2 tablespoons limeade, thawed (approx)
ice cube (optional)
1 (12 ounce) can beer
1/4 cup frozen limeade concentrate, thawed (yes, limeade again)
1 fluid ounce tequila
lime wedge (optional)

Steps:

  • Pour lime juice or the 2 tablespoons of limeade onto a saucer.
  • Spoon the salt onto another saucer so that there is a thin layer of salt.
  • Dip the rim of a beer mug or a tall glass in the lime juice/limeade and then in the salt.
  • Pour beer, limeade concentrate and tequila into a 2 cup measuring cup and stir well.
  • Pour into the beer mug/tall glass (with or without ice).
  • Put the lime wedge on the rim of the mug/glass to make it look like you are having a fancy drink.
  • Cheers
  • Note:For best results, put the beer mug/glass in the freezer for about 10 or 15 minutes before serving to have a nice cold, frosty mug/glass.
  • It helps keep the drink cold longer.

SOOZ'S MARGARITAS (MADE WITH BEER)

Sooz's Margaritas (Made With Beer) image

Good tequila is the key to these... I like these because they are not too sweet. Be careful because these go down way too smoothly! Use your limeade can to measure. Make sure to use a light beer or the beer flavor will be too strong.

Provided by Sooz Cooks

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

12 ounces frozen limeade concentrate (do not thaw)
4 ounces Grand Marnier (or other orange flavored liqueur)
12 ounces Cuervo tequila, gold 1800 (I have also used Cazadores with good results)
8 ounces water
12 ounces light beer (I like Corona)
1 lime, cut into wedges

Steps:

  • Pour limeade, Grand Marnier, tequila, water, and beer into a large pitcher.
  • Stir until well-blended and limeade has melted.
  • Add plenty of ice.
  • Pour into margarita glasses rimmed with salt (if salt is desired).
  • Garnish with lime wedges.

MICHELADA (MEXICAN BEER)

Michelada (Mexican Beer) image

Submitted for Zaar World Tour 2005. Michelada takes its name from a Spanish slang term for cold beer. The lime juice adds a nice zing to the beer whereas the Worcestershire and Tabasco add an interesting depth to the taste. From a special issue of Saveur called The Best of Tex-Mex Cooking.

MEXICALI BEER MARGARITAS - REVIEW BY CHERI - ALLRECIPES.COM
This was a refreshing drink for the summer. I used Corona although any summer blonde or shandy would have worked just as well. Only the two of us so I only used two bottles of beer and cut the tequila to a half cup. We thought the tequila drowned out the taste of the beer so next time I would cut it to a 1/4 cup and possibly add the third bottle of beer.

Lime – Fresh is Best. The key to a refreshing margarita is real lime. This is a fresh margarita, not a sour mix drink mixed with tequila. Sour mix and lime juice from the bottle are a big no-no when it comes to making a tasty margarita.
