MELTING SNOWMAN OREO BALLS

Melting Snowman Oreo Balls image

These Melted Snowmen Oreo Balls are festive and a great addition to any holiday party. I guarantee they'll be the first to go.

Provided by Christy Denney

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
36 OREO Cookies ((regular size), finely crushed)
16 oz vanilla candy coating (, melted (like Candiquick or almond bark))
48 Mini OREO Bite Size Cookies
decorations: decorating icing or gel; multi-colored sprinkles

Steps:

  • Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs until well blended. I like to crush the Oreos in a food processor and then add the cream cheese and process it together. It can also be done by hand though.
  • Shape into 48 (1-inch) balls; place in single layer in shallow pan. Some readers have stuck toothpicks in the top before freezing for easier dipping later. Freeze for at least 20 minutes. They can be frozen for longer. Dip balls in melted coating (see note); I do this by using a fork and tapping the fork on the bowl of my candy coating to remove some of the extra coating. If you used the toothpick option dip balls and then gently remove the toothpick and fill in the hole with melted candy coating. Place in shallow waxed paper-lined pan, allowing excess coating to pool at bottom of each ball.
  • Chill balls until coating is set.
  • Decorate with remaining ingredients as shown in photo. You can use the candy coating to adhere the hat to the head. Place in the fridge immediately to set up the decorations.
  • Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Keep refrigerated.

MELTING SNOWMEN COOKIES

Melting Snowmen Cookies image

These candy-coated cookies are fun to make, and to serve-plus, no rolling pins required!

Provided by Heather Baird

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h40m

Yield 20

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 package (1 lb) vanilla-flavored candy coating (almond bark)
Black confetti candy sprinkles
Orange candy sprinkles
Betty Crocker™ Decorating Cookie Icing chocolate icing
Betty Crocker™ Decorating Decors snowflakes

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir together cookie mix, butter and egg until soft dough forms.
  • Roll half the dough into walnut-size balls, and then flatten slightly on a parchment-lined or ungreased cookie sheet. Roll remaining dough into marble-size balls, and place on cookie sheet; do not flatten these.
  • Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly golden brown. Cool about 5 minutes or until cookies are firm enough to be transferred to cooling rack. Cool completely before frosting.
  • In large microwavable bowl, microwave candy coating at 30-second intervals until it can be stirred smooth. Cover work surface with waxed or parchment paper.
  • Place a dot of melted coating on bottom of a small cookie and place it toward one edge of a larger cookie. Spoon coating over entire cookie, allowing some to spill over edge of bottom cookie.
  • Place two black confetti pieces on small cookie for eyes, and an orange candy sprinkle in center for a carrot nose. Place three black confetti sprinkle "buttons" on the bottom cookie. Alternatively, you can decorate one large cookie in the same manner, to represent a completely melted snowman.
  • Use the cookie icing to draw on arms. Sprinkle with snowflakes; allow to dry completely.
  • Store cookies in airtight container.

MARSHMALLOW MELTING SNOWMAN COOKIES

Marshmallow Melting Snowman Cookies image

These adorable holiday cookies will charm and delight recipients of all ages. Simply pipe mounds of marshmallow creme on top of sugar cookie dough. As they bake, the marshmallow slumps off the side to create a melting snowman. Decorate with an assortment of candies and sprinkles to bring these snowmen to life. Note: Marshmallow creme can become sticky at room temperature, so make sure to separate each cookie with wax paper in your tins to prevent them from sticking.

Categories     dessert

Time 2h30m

Yield makes 3 dozen cookies

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (see Cook's Note)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 1/4 cups marshmallow creme
18 miniature peanut butter cups, such as Reese's Miniature Cups, cut in half
72 brown mini candy-coated chocolates, such as mini M&M's
36 orange mini candy-coated chocolates, such as mini M&M's
18 mini pretzel sticks, broken in half
180 small black nonpareils (about 2 tablespoons)
72 red and/or green round, flat confetti sprinkles (about 2 tablespoons)

Steps:

  • Line 3 rimmed baking sheets with parchment; set aside.
  • Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl. Beat the sugar and butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the vanilla and egg and beat to incorporate. Add the flour mixture in 2 batches and beat on medium-low speed after each addition until incorporated.
  • Scoop heaping tablespoonfuls of the batter with a cookie scoop onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart (12 cookies per sheet). Use your palm to gently flatten each dough ball to level the surface.
  • Transfer the marshmallow creme to a piping bag or resealable plastic bag and snip the tip. Pipe about 2 teaspoons of the creme on top each cookie, directly in the center. Refrigerate until chilled, about 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees F.
  • Bake the cookies, 1 baking sheet at a time, until the bottoms and edges are barely golden brown and the marshmallow creme has puffed and spread on top of each cookie, 12 to 14 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets (the creme should deflate slightly), then transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once the cookies are cool, decorate the face of each one as follows: affix 1 peanut butter cup, cut-side down, to the head for the snowman's hat; add 2 brown candy-coated chocolates for the eyes and 1 orange candy-coated chocolate for the nose; arrange 5 black nonpareils for the mouth and 2 red or green confetti sprinkles for the buttons. Finally, attach 1 pretzel piece on each side for the arms.
  • The cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Make sure to separate the cookies with wax paper to prevent them from sticking together.
