I can't remember where I got this recipe but it's a great, easy appetizer if you're rushed for time. You can use frozen meatballs (just make sure they are fully thawed). Yummmm. I hope you enjoy.

1/2 package(s) puff pastry (1 sheet), thawed
24 small meatballs, fully cooked
1/2 cup(s) marinara sauce (your favourite)
1/2 cup(s) shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400 F. Unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Roll the sheet into a 10 x 15 inch rectangle. Cut the rectangle into 24 squares (2-1/2 inch). Press the squares into 24 mini muffin cups.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown.
  • Press one small meatball into each tartlet shell. Top each with a teaspoon sauce and a teaspoon of cheese. Bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the meatball is warmed through.

In the sauce it is 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning. It will for some reason not show up. Got this from a friend many years ago. Can doctor up with spice when making the meatballs to your liking. I always add fresh garlic to the meat mixture along with a dash of red pepper flakes. The sauce is excellent. Not sure how many it serves exactly. They are one of the first things that go at our parties. I simmer in my crockpot.

2 lbs ground round
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 garlic cloves, minced (not in original recipe) (optional)
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (not in original recipe) (optional)
salt and pepper
24 ounces brooks catsup
1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
8 -10 ounces apple jelly, small jar
3 tablespoons white sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix together all meatball ingredients and roll into balls.
  • Bake on pan with sides such as cake pan or jelly roll pan for 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile mix together all sauce ingredients in large pan on top of stove.
  • Simmer 15 minutes.
  • Once meatballs are baked add to sauce and mix well.
  • Simmer 15 minutes.
  • I like to simmer the meatballs and sauce in my crockpot.

2 pounds lean ground beef
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon ketchup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
SAUCE:
1 bottle (14 ounces) hot or regular ketchup
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 jar (12 ounces) apple jelly
1 jar (12 ounces) currant jelly

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the first 12 ingredients. Shape into 1-in. balls. Place meatballs on a greased rack in a shallow baking pan. , Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes; drain. Combine ketchup and cornstarch in roasting pan. Stir in jellies; add the meatballs. Cover and bake for 30 minutes.

My family enjoys these when we have "appetizer night". These aren't italian meatballs for spaghetti or meatball subs, they have a sweet glaze.

Number Of Ingredients 13

3 slices white bread
2/3 cup milk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Steps:

  • Soak the bread in the milk. Combine the bread, eggs, horseradish, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl; beat well at medium speed of an electric mixer.
  • Add the ground beef; mix well. Shape mixture into 1 inch balls. Place on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Place meatballs on a papertowel covered plate to absorb any excess grease.
  • Combine the ketchup and remaining ingredients in a saucepan; cook over medium heat until bubbly, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the meatballs to the sauce, and cook until thoroughly heated. Serve warm.
