Steps:
- Bring lightly salted water to a boil in a steamer with a tight fitting lid.
- Peel, slice and steam sweet potatoes in steamer basket, covered, for about 10 minutes or until tender.
- When tender mash with potato masher adding rest of ingredients.

Steps:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add potatoes and cook until tender, 20 to 30 minutes.
- With an electric mixer on low, blend potatoes, slowly adding milk, about 1/2 a cup at a time. Use more or less to achieve desired texture. Add butter and maple syrup to taste. Blend until smooth. Serve warm.

- Add the sliced sweet potatoes and ½ teaspoon of the salt to a large stockpot. Add in enough cold water to cover the potatoes, then bring the water to a low boil.
- Continue to gently boil, reducing the heat as needed, for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender. Drain the potatoes and return to the pot.
- With the pot set on the warm burner (with the heat turned off), add in the remaining 1 teaspoon salt, the olive oil, almond milk (start with the lower amount), pepper, garlic powder and green onions.
- Use a potato masher to mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy, adding in additional milk as needed to reach your desired level of creaminess (I usually add the full 4 tablespoons).
