Two classic comfort foods combined to make one hearty and very satisfying casserole.

1 (16 ounce) package elbow macaroni
1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 (14.5 ounce) can canned diced tomatoes
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (1.3 ounce) envelope sloppy joe seasoning
¼ cup butter
1 small onion, minced
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
3 cups half-and-half
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Place macaroni in the pot, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a large casserole dish.
  • Place the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, and cook until evenly brown. Drain grease. Mix in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and sloppy joe seasoning. Reduce heat to low, and simmer 10 minutes.
  • Melt the butter in a large pot over medium-high heat. Stir in the onion, and cook until tender. Mix in flour, mustard, salt, and pepper. In a bowl, mix the half and half and Worcestershire sauce. Gradually whisk half and half mixture into the pot. Bring to a boil, and cook 1 minute, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat. Mix in 3 cups of cheese. Stir cooked pasta into the pot, evenly coating with the sauce. Transfer to the casserole dish. Layer with the beef mixture and top with remaining cheese.
  • Cover, and bake 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove cover, and continue baking 10 minutes, until bubbly.

1 pkg. (7-1/4 oz.) KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner
2 cups water
1/2 cup KRAFT or BULL'S-EYE Original Barbecue Sauce
1 cup tomato sauce
2 cups shredded lettuce
2 tomatoes, chopped

Steps:

  • Brown meat in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat; drain.
  • Add Macaroni, water and barbecue sauce; stir. Bring to boil; cover. Simmer on medium heat 8 min, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in Cheese Sauce Mix and tomato sauce; cook until heated through, stirring frequently. Top with lettuce and tomatoes.

1 pkg. (14.5 oz.) KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Family Size Dinner
1 pkg. (16 oz.) frozen corn
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 can (15 oz.) sloppy joe sauce

Steps:

  • Prepare Dinner in large saucepan as directed on package, adding corn to the boiling water with the Macaroni.
  • Meanwhile, brown meat in large skillet; drain. Add sloppy joe sauce; mix well.
  • Add to Dinner mixture; cook until heated through, stirring frequently.

3 tablespoons butter
8 ounces cavatappi pasta
1 small onion, chopped
1 lb extra lean ground beef
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (1 1/3 ounce) envelope sloppy joe seasoning mix
3 cups milk
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
12 ounces shredded cheddar cheese (3 cups)
1/4 cup seasoned dry bread crumb

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F
  • Coat 2-qt. baking dish with 1 Tbs. butter.
  • Cook pasta according to package directions; drain.
  • Meanwhile, in large skillet, heat 1 Tbs. butter over medium heat.
  • Add onion; cook until softened.
  • Add beef; cook until lightly browned, 3 minutes.
  • Stir in sauce, 1 cup water and seasoning mix; cook 5 minutes.
  • Combine milk and mustard; bring to boil.
  • Reduce heat to low and whisk in flour; cook, whisking, until smooth and slightly thickened.
  • Stir in 2 cups cheese and pasta.
  • Spread meat mixture in baking dish; top with pasta mixture, then remaining cheese.
  • Melt remaining butter; stir in breadcrumbs.
  • Sprinkle over cheese.
  • Place baking dish on baking sheet.
  • Bake until golden, 25-30 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef. Brown the beef while breaking it up into small chunks as it cooks. Season the meat with salt and pepper, then drain off excess fat as needed. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more until garlic is fragrant.
  • Stir in minced onion, brown sugar, tomatoes, worcestershire sauce, chili powder and one half of the parsley.Reduce heat and simmer for 10 - 12 minutes to allow flavors to blend.
