1 cup water
3 Tablespoons olive oil
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 Tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 1/2 Tablespoons rosemary
1 Tablespoon yeast
additional rosemary to garnish

Steps:

  • Place ingredients, according to manufacturer's directions into your bread machine. Some call for all liquids, or all dry ingredients first, so know your machine. Set machine to "dough cycle" and wait. (This takes most machines about an hour and a half for a full cycle). Remove from machine when cycle is complete and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Shape dough by hand, into a rectangular mound, spreading kind of thin, maybe an inch or two of thickness. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size. (This is a good time to go ahead and turn the oven on to preheat and help warm the kitchen). Brush with a little olive oil, sprinkle with rosemary and salt if desired. (This is the way its done at Macaroni Grill). Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until crust is golden and crispy. Bread is meant to be a flatter shape and not a high rising bread. Have everyone tear their pieces of bread with their hands,and serve with olive oil flavored with fresh ground pepper.

2 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons olive oil
½ teaspoon ground thyme
½ teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons crushed dried rosemary
3 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Pour the water into the pan of a bread machine, then sprinkle in the yeast and sugar. Let the mixture sit in the bread machine until a creamy foam forms on top of the water, about 10 minutes. Sprinkle in the salt, then add olive oil, thyme, garlic powder, rosemary, and flour. Set the machine for light crust setting, and start the machine.

This is an easy bread machine recipe that I came up with after tweaking a few other recipes, mixing and matching and finding what works for me. My family likes to eat this while still warm, and we usually dip it in olive oil, with a few drops of balsamic vinegar and coarsely ground pepper. I have listed ingredients by the way I add them to MY bread machine, so be sure to check that your particular bread machine doesn't require another way of adding ingredients. If so, follow your bread machines instructions for the order in which to add ingredients.

1 1/4 cups warm milk
2 tablespoons rosemary
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
1 tablespoon sugar
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons yeast
2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon rosemary

Steps:

  • Combine milk with 2 T rosemary and microwave until warm; about 45 seconds.
  • Place ingredients in bread pan in order specified by your bread machines manual.
  • Use the white bread and light crust setting.
  • Press start.
  • BEFORE SERVING:.
  • Mix above ingredients for the rub and brush on bread after removing from bread machine. Ideally, while bread is still warm.
  • Enjoy!

1 tablespoon yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup warm water
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons rosemary
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Place yeast, sugar and water in large bowl or food processor and allow mixture to become bubbly.
  • Mix in 1 T butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour.
  • Add one tablespoon of the fresh chopped rosemary.
  • Knead for about 10 minutes by hand or in food processor about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Add more flour if necessary.
  • Oil a bowl, put dough in it and cover with a towel.
  • Let dough rise in a warm place for one hour until doubled.
  • Punch down dough and divide in half.
  • Let dough rest about 5 minutes.
  • Spray baking pan or cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  • Shape the dough into 2 small rounded oval loaves.
  • Sprinkle remaining 1 Tablespoon of rosemary over the loaves and press lightly into the surface.
  • Let loaves rise again until doubled, about 45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until lightly browned.
  • Carefully remove from oven, brush with remaining butter (and salt if desired.).

1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning

2 tablespoons dried rosemary, chopped

Steps:

  • In a medium/large bowl, mix yeast with warm water. Wait five minutes.
  • Add the sugar, flour, salt, and oil. Knead until light.
  • Add herbs and pepper. Knead into dough until blended.
  • Place dough in well oiled bowl and allow to rise for 1 hour. After one hour, punch dough down and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Place on baking sheet in a loaf shape. Sprinkle top with a bit of salt and rosemary.
  • Bake at 370 F for about 25-35 minutes, or until top is golden.
  • Note: Inside may seem a bit doughy when cut at first, but as long as the top is golden and hard your fine.

  • In a large bowl (or the bowl of an electric stand mixer if you have one), combine the yeast, sugar and water. If using active dry yeast, let the mixture stand until foaming and bubbly, about 5 minutes. If using instant yeast, proceed with the recipe. Add two cups of the flour, salt and 1 1/2 - 2 tablespoons of the chopped rosemary. Mix. Continue adding flour, gradually, until a soft dough is formed. Judge the dough based on texture and feel versus how much actual flour you've had to add based on the recipe. The dough should be slightly tacky to the touch but should hold its shape while still being soft and smooth. Knead the dough by hand or with an electric mixer for 4-5 minutes, adding additional flour only if the dough is overly sticky and not clearing the sides of the bowl.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl and cover with greased plastic wrap. Let the dough rise until doubled in size, approximately 1-2 hours, depending on the warmth of your kitchen. Once doubled, gently deflate the dough and divide in half. Prepare a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, a silpat liner or lightly grease with cooking spray. Shape the dough into two smooth, oval shaped loaves and place them on the baking sheet, one on each half of the tray so they have room to rise and bake without touching. Use a brush to slather the melted butter over the top of the loaves. Continue brushing on the butter until it is gone (the loaves will be well-saturated). Sprinkle the remaining chopped rosemary over the top of the loaves, patting down gently to set into the dough, if needed. Cover the loaves with lightly greased plastic wrap and let them rise again until puffy and nearly doubled, about an hour (again, the exact time will depend on temperature so judge the dough by how it
