SUGAR-GLAZED APPLE TART RECIPE BY TASTY

- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- For the dough, put the flour, butter, oil, sugar, and salt in a food processor and process for about 10 seconds.
- Add the Tablespoon of ice water and process for another five or six seconds.
- Remove from the bowl and form into a flat dough. Wrap the dough with plastic wrap and then refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.
- Lightly flour a work surface and roll the ball of dough into a thin layer, around ¼ inch (6 ⅓ mm) thick.
- Using a round cutter, or use a round bowl or lid as a guide and cut out into a nice round circle. Carefully transfer the dough to a large cookie sheet lined with a nonstick baking mat.
- Arrange the apple slices, alternating them nicely on top of the dough. Sprinkle the apple with sugar and put butter cubes on top.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the fruit is soft and the dough nicely browned.
- Some of the juice from the fruit will have leaked out onto the cookie sheet. Before it hardens and makes the disks stick to the sheet, lift the tart with a broad spatula and transfer them to a cooling rack or platter.
- Serve lukewarm or at room temperature with ice cream (optional).

Steps:
- Make the crust: In a food processor, blend the oats into a coarse powder.
- Add the butter to a medium saucepan over medium heat and cook until nutty brown in color, 5-6 minutes. Once the butter has browned, add the ground oats, flour, salt, and water, and mix to combine. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Transfer the crust mixture to a 9-inch (20 cm) tart pan, spreading evenly across the bottom and up the sides. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375˚F (190˚C).
- Make the filling: Place the apples in a large microwave-safe bowl and squeeze the lemon juice over, then toss to coat. Microwave for 4 minutes. Cover with a plate and let steam for 5 minutes.
- Season the apples with the cinnamon and nutmeg, and toss to coat.
- Spread the applesauce over the bottom of the crust.
- Starting from the outside and working inward, arrange the apples in the pan in a circular pattern with the curved side up. Begin with the larger slices, overlapping slightly, and continue until the entire crust is filled. Brush the apples with the melted butter.
- Bake for 1 hour, checking occasionally. If the edges are browning too quickly, cover gently with foil to prevent further browning as the tart cooks through.
- If using, microwave the apricot jam for 20-30 seconds to melt. Use a pastry brush to paint the apricot jam over the warm tart for a nice, shiny finish.
- Let the tart cool to room temperature before slicing and serving.

- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Spray an 8" springform pan with vegetable cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat oil and molasses with an electric mixer on high speed for one minute.
- Add egg and vanilla and blend on high speed 30 seconds.
- Add Splenda and beat until smooth.
- Add flour mixture, grated apple, and apple butter. Mix until blended.
- Spread batter evenly in pan and bake for 30 minutes.
- Cool on wire rack.
- Remove springform sides from bottom.
- Serve warm.

- Line tart pan with parchment paper.
- In a small saucepan, over medium heat, cook sugar, honey, marmalade and apple juice, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil, then turn down heat and simmer until mixture begins to thicken, about 2 minutes; set aside.
- Peel and core the apples. Cut into thin wedges then sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent discoloration. Add apples to syrup in pot and toss to coat. Simmer, covered, 15 minutes. Uncover and simmer on low heat until apples are very soft, 10 to 15 minutes more. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Transfer apple mixture to a glass bowl and allow to cool to room temperature. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator 2 hours.
- For the Tart: Combine flour and sugar in bowl of electric mixer. Add butter and, starting at low speed, stir until pieces of flour-covered butter are cut into tiny particles. Stop machine to check consistency. Add egg yolks and blend until particles are moistened, add water and blend until dough comes together. Don't over mix or dough will be tough. Wrap in waxed paper or plastic wrap and refrigerate 5 minutes.
- Remove one-fourth of dough and refrigerate. Flatten remaining dough into thin round disk and press into 11-inch tart pan with removable bottom. On a floured board, roll out remaining one-fourth dough into 12-inch square. Using a fluted pastry cutter or knife, cut into 16 to 18 (1/2-inch) strips. Chill 10 minutes.
- Spread Filling evenly in pastry-lined tart pan. Arrange 1/2 of dough strips across top of filling, spacing as evenly as possible. Arrange remaining strips in opposite direction, across first strips of dough, making a lattice pattern. Cut off strips even with edge of pan and press each strip with bottom pastry and pinch to seal.
- Place tart on baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees until golden brown, 1 hour. Remove from oven and set on rack to cool. Remove from tart pan by carefully loosing bottom from sides of pan.
